rezum procedure - was told may get 12-14 shots - does this sound right

I met with a urolologist in that is on the Rezum list. Very good credentials and reviews. He discussed rezum with me and thought i'd be a candidate based on my records. however he did want to do a cystoscope and a uridynamics.

His nurse mentioned that he has done around 100 rezums.

i asked about R/E and he told me it doesnt happen, which confused me as i know its a minor chance based on the studies. he said he has done prostate twice the size of my 80 with great success. when i asked him how many shots he thought i would have and he told me 12-14. I froze. i have never heard of anyone getting that many. Has anyone else ever received that many or knows of anyone that has had that many?

thanks in advance.

could be...I just had it done. My prostate is 25grams which is not that big. I had 5 shots.

That is to many.  There has been some men on here that have had it done and had 10 to 12 injection.Sometimes it does work with that many but there have been men that it has worked and they only had 6 and under and no retro.  I think he is being to aggressive  I have been doing a list for all most 2 years.  We had 37 men that had the Rezum procedure.  21 worked and 16 did not work.  Out of the 37 16 got retro   And out of the 16 that did not work 5 had to have a Turp procedure to clean out the scare tissue. With your prostate being 80 you could have a Urolift.  It is another option and no sexual side effects.  Good luck with whatever you decide  Ken   I would also think about it your doctor told you that it never happens well I think he need to read up on the booklet.  Ever the booklet tell you that retro happens more then is told.

Matt hope all goes well.  Please let me know at around if the procedure worked and if you end up with retro so I can add you to the list   Have a good day  Ken

I had talked to a doctor's office who was doing Rezum early on.  His office told me that they were getting 10% retro.  When I called the parent company of Rezum, I got an evasive response in regards to retro.

Rezum instructions can be found on the Nxthera web site. Estimate is 3-4 per lobe for distance >3 cm from bladder neck to Veru, plus 2 or more for median lobe.

Timothy,

Does that mean a maximum of  10 shots?

Kenneth,

Are you saying that 37 men in total you have tracked ? Have any had 12-14 shots ?

Matt,

Best of luck. Where did u have it done?

Timothy,

Can you give me a link to the instructions?

CJ,

I talked to a Urologist in Florida who has done more Rezum than anyone in the world.  He said he would fill the whole prostate with steam, 200 seconds worth.  At 9 seconds per shot that would be 22 shots.  I said won't that cause RE.  He could not understand why I would be interested in RE when I just needed to pee.  Needless to say I did not have it done there. The reason he has done more Rezum than anyone is that he is located next to the largest retirement community in the world.

Thomas

No that is not what I am saying.  We have had men that have had 10 to 12  some worked and some didn't. Most of the men had a average of 6 and under.  There were some that had median lobes.  The doctor did 2 on each side and 1 in the median lobe and they were fine. I feel that 14 shot is a over kill.  It will destroy to much tissue.  Remember when it heals all of that is going to cause scare tissue  Ken

Now that is a over kill.  That is never be.  Ken

I don’t think links work on this site. I just googled and found it.

Ken, what list?

So have yiou been tracking all procedure outcomes from this site? If so, how is the FLA crowd doing?

Timothy,

I can’t find it. Can you give me the exact term you googled ? Thanks

This is my own list.  I have been keeping tract of them.  It been about 18 months.  The last one I got was Joe1953.  I should have done it different But I am just doing how many Procedure are done and if they work and if you end up with retro  Have a good day  Ken

Cam  I should have keep tract of how many shots they had but I was more concerned if it worked and if it cause retro.  I have come up with a theory.     When I was looking into Aquablation.  They save the verumontanum ( ejaculatory ducts ).  But they get rid of most of the prostate which destroy the seminal canal so the only ejaculation you get is from what is left of the prostate. Which is about 15%.  No one is keeping tract of the volume in the trails.  Now with Rezum in principal they do the same thing.  They do not touch the Ejaculatory ducts but with putting the injections into the prostate which will destroy the inside of the prostate which can cause scare tissue that can block the seminal canal.  So you end up with the fluid from what is left of the prostate.  Now as the prostate get smaller you will end up with less of a ejaculation and if the prostate get to small you may end up with no ejaculation at all.  That you can see.  It may still be in the shaft of the penis.  I wonder if the procedure does any type of damage to the muscle that pushes the ejaculation forward.  This is just a thought. There was also one guy on here that he said that after 2 weeks he had a ejaculation not has much as before and after a month he had non...... Also at 10 %  They were a couple of guys on here that they talk with the PA in the office and they were told that retro is more they what they are saying in the booklets.  We will never know the truth but every man has the right to pick what he feel is best for him.  Because he is the one that will have to live with the outcome.  Have a great day all and Good Health  Ken

Sorry buddy.  No I did not do that one.  I wish I did.  I do remember that John was the first one done.  That was over a year ago.  There were about 18 that worked pretty good.  I also know that there were a few that they did not work for them.  I think Stan had it done twice.I know the first did not work and the second I don't remember.  The last few that were done did work but there have not been that many lately.  Not to many of us can't afford it.  I do know That Dr. K was finishing his trails and he is suppose to have them out by the end of the year.  I know that FLA it is approved for Cancer by the FDA.  Maybe one day it will be approved for BPH.  Have a good day  Ken
