Is anyone part of this forum that has rheumatoid arthritis in their feet? I’ve had a double ankle fusion plus arch reconstruction six months ago & im in severe pain. My surgeon is stumped. It’s in both ankles in exactly the same place, travels up the inside of the knee, travelling to other parts of my foot. The pain is severe I can hardly walk. My ankles feel like they’ve shifted out of alignment which is adding to the pain in my ankles. I’ve done some research & I think I have rheumatoid arthritis in both feet. It describes everything that’s happening to me right now. I’m going to go see my family Doctor to be tested but I’m wonder if anyone else is dealing with this & what are you doing to control your pain?
HI barb1953,
I can empathize with your bilateral ankle pain. I have end stage post traumatic degenerative arthritis. I do not have any answers for you about your pain but I understand the frustration. My Journey will eventually lead me to having a bilateral fusion as well. Were you able to walk ok before all the pain? The prospect terrifies me. You are not alone!
Hi Chelle, I could barely walk before my fusion & the fusion made me so much worse. Because my ankle has shifted, my foot now feels twisted. Whatever is going on seems to be rapid deterioration. Everyday seems to get worse. I can barely get from point A to point B. I’m starting a new job on the 12th & I’m so scared I won’t be able to do it. I’m really considering going into a wheelchair the pain is so severe. I lay awake night after night filled with fear for my future. I can’t spend the rest of my life sitting. I just can’t. I feel so bad for you. There’s nothing any worse than having your feet being destroyed by arthritis knowing there’s no cure. Hang in there Chelle. I will pray for you. We have to believe there’s light at the end of this dark tunnel. Don’t give up hope.
There are to many people that have complications after some kind of fusion that I have seen, and also heard about including myself..they need to find another way to help ppl.Fusions lead to more fusions and more complications I would not advise anybody to do it
