Risk of colon cancer after gallbladder removal?

is there an increased risk of colon cancer after gallbladder removal? And is there anything you can take to help stop it? As I know bile acid constantly drips without the gallbladder there. So is there anything you can take to neutralise the bile acid?

If there is something Sandra nobody has told me I have suffered for three years with chronic diaorrea because of bile dripping all the time I take a four Colesevlam a day and up to eight imodium and all i get told is nothing can be done xx

It is not that much of a rist. I have had my gallblader out for almost 10 years now. I have upper and lower GI's and I am healthy.. Don't eat meat or fatty foods. It will put a strain on your liver.  No alcohol at all. I don't drink either. eat 6 small meals and lots of water. I mean 6 cups of water and you will be fine. Stree is worst than anyting you can do to your body.  Relax. I had stage 4 bile duct cancer and went to my liver 10 years ago. they gave me 3 months and look. It is 10 years and I am cancer free.  I still do chemo for preventitive measures and I love live, wife and kids. Life is to short to stress. You are alive and healty.  You could get hit by a car today and be gone, so relax. You will live  a long life. follow the diet I stated so you have less attacks.

Hey thanks for the advice, I had my gallbladder out 8 years ago. I do stress a lot which I know isn't good I'm just fed up with these symptoms which seem to be worse at the moment since I have been pregnant. And when I google it comes up cancer etc saying you are more at risk without a gallbladder. I also suffer from Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction since having gallbladder out, have you experienced that?

It's frustrating as doctor just fobs me off all the time saying its IBS I need to see a gastro specialist maybe they might be able to help. Have you experienced sphincter of Oddi dysfunction since having your gallbladder out ?

Yes , no problem. just chew your food and eat 6 small meals. No fat or fast food. eat vegge's and a lot of water. No red meats, just chicken twice a week. I have had this problem for over 13 years and when I go off my diet I get pain, that simple. You might not feel it right away but after a few days you will. If you get diarrhea then you know it comming the pain. if you are getting diarrhea start a liquid diet, water, chicken broth, gelo and that is it until it subsides.. you will be fine relax. I have 3 types of cancers and I feel fine and I am still around after 10 years. enjoy life.

yes, stop seeing doctors they can not help. eat small means and drink a lot of water. no fats or fast foods.

Which 3 types of cancer if you don't mind me asking? I lost my grandad to cancer of the pancreas and my nan to bile duct cancer plus my step has had breast cancer and now my friends brother has been diagnosed with a cancerous lump. So I just worry so much about it having seen so many people suffer from it.

liver, bile duct and lung cancer.  I also got blood cancer from all the chemo I did for the past 12 years.  Now to date I am cancer free for over 6 years. I was give only 3 months in 1997 I am on borrowed time and love my family and life.

I forgot to tell you, I never have smoked , drinked alcohol or done drugs my whole entire live. I am in shape and have always eaten  good. It does not matter , it can come to anyone(cancer) it does not care of you are white, black, rich ,poor ,fat or skinny.

Hear that quite often that people with healthy lifestyles get it and people that smoke 50 fags a day live til they are 80 plus

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

good luck,

eat better. stay away from juck food.  No candy, just drink a lot of water, 8-10 cups of water

I was 67 when I had the op I'm now 70

Iam 50 years old and you should not worry about other people and get jealous about other people. You are a live and winning the game. I pray that I will live to your age with all my problems, but I am very happy in life and you should be also.

I'm 32 this year so was 24 when I had my gallbladder out which is apparently unusual for someone that age.

Would you recommend taking bile salts/supplements?

I have never taken bile salts. why do you want to put more junk in you body.  the more supplements you put the harder you liver has to work, it is already working harder since it always puts out bile now.  Just change you diet, that simple, no sweets, eating out, red meats or caned foods. lots of water. try it for about 3 months and let me know what happens. I have been dealing with this for 13 years and I am doing fine as long as I stay on my diet.

Are you overweight, do you eat out a lot. these are the contributing factors that can cause your problem. It can also be heredity, if you parents had it also.  Let me know
