ive had this spot for a couple years and it wont go away. i just want know what it is, dr said follucilitis but i doubt it.
It doesnt look like folliculitis to me. Does it itch? Is it raised slightly? Is it growing in size?
My initial reaction was that its a naevus and its been there since you were born…a birthmark. If it doesnt itch and it doesnt change size or shape then, if its possible, ask your Mother if it was there when you were born. Or ask your Father, siblings, someone who has known you for a long time. Naevi are totally harmless but can be removed by a specialist plastic surgeon.
If it itches then it may be fungal or psoriasis. You could try a shampoo with Selenium sulphide as the active ingredient, but this wont fade a birthmark.
I never had folliculitis on my scalp, but I knew one person who did and it didn’t look like that.
Since I have no expertise on the subject, I would advise you to go to another doctor, preferably a dermatologist, to get a second opinion on this.
