RTHR and smiling!

I just wanted to drop a quick note that last Friday I received my CoC hip on the right side and this morning I was told I might be going home soon, as all is going so well!

being 43 and getting the hip done helps a lot for the 'bounce-back' it seems!

So not so much a question here, just a shout out of joy that it's been done. Time will tell how I feel later on, for now, I'm happy!

Great great and great, hope you do go home soon.

I have my LTHR done on Thursday so not far behind you, hope I make a good improvement as well.

Shout it from the rooftops and look after yourself. xx

Lovely to hear that all is going well for you and that you are happy. May you continue to recover well and do let us know how it goes.

 Take care. 😄😄😄

Not too long for us now, Gill. How are you doing? Keeping busy? 😃😃😃

Wonderful to hear your feeling so well, remember to listen to your body and get plenty of rest in the first couple of weeks, do your exercises and eat well. Keep in touch

That's really great news! I'm 45 and due to have my op in a couple of weeks. I've been wondering if age generally makes a difference to recovery times.

Best of luck with the rest of your recovery!!

Thank you all for the kind words! 😊

I'll be sure to stay in touch and update whenever things change.

For those about to get it done, be positive, but most of all, practice. Yes, it is tiring, but so worth to see the progress!

that is wonderful ... age probably makes a difference - whatever it is, take it !!!

please keep us informed - always good to hear about your victories and progress - take good care of yourself - warm hug

Not sure if age makes a difference. I am 66 and 8 weeks post op. Was in for 3 days, now walking everywhere without support and manage 4-5 miles at a time. Was assessed this week and back to driving 90 degree rule lifted. Continuing with the exercises given while in hospital. Now that the 90 has been abandoned the muscles are saying hello. I am not allowed to squat but forget and then body tells me. I have another assessment in four months when surgeon expects all movement to be restored providing I have been diligent. Think the key to success is being positive and following the medical advice. What is good for you may not be good for me

Unfortunately you may have to return to work while I had to return to being retired so more time to rest and catch up on sleep

The op is the easy bit. I had spinal rather than GA so recovery quicker

Look after yourself

well done you!!!   bet its a great feeling when its all over.  you will feel better when youre at home in familiar surroundings!

i am still waiting (9 wks now) for a date for my THR.... i cant wait to get it over with.

take care .... x

Great to hear all is well. I'm 44 and considered myself fit and healthy. I actually thought I'd pulled something running and was shocked to find out I had OA. 5 months later and I'm booked for LTHR on 8th June. I'm hoping for speedy recovery so I can spend quality time with kids in summer holidays. Well done you, stay positive and healthy.

Well about the staying positive.. Today I've been walking with one crutch and tonight I'm going home. So this was a short journey from Friday to Monday.

I'm not an idiot though, there will probably be bad days ahead. But right now, I'm all uppity and will start scheduling the left hip soon if it all goes smoothly! But first, holiday to Bali!

Stay positive, don't think of hurdles, but rather if challenges and go. I did and am happier for it. I haven't felt this energetic for a LONG time! 😊

You are such a show off. I did my shoelaces up at the weekend it was week eight so very proud. We all make our own little achievements.

Guess with next hip you will just skip of the operating table. I hope my next one is a long way off. Good for you and I hope you do not have bad days xx

😁

Well, there is that one challenge of actually reaching my right foot, so there is plenty ahead 😉

Totally agree with you Ann. I am 65 but that us still relevantly young compared with a lot of people who go through THR. I am following exactly the same regime as you and it works well. Everyone is different and have different situations. I, like you, am retired and can dedicate more time to go slowly and take more care and I see improvements every day. I can drive from 2nd June and have an automatic which is a bonus at this stage and providng I can do the "emergency stop " I shall be off! Can't wait for that independence! However I am scheduled to have my left hip done in September so have to watch that too, but now I have the confidence that by Christmas I know I shall be walking again normally and that the op is quite a miraculous thing!

Next hip for me will be easier if any of my current experiences teach me anything. Having been home for a few days now does confront me with all the things I can't do.

Making dinner yesterday was one of those instances where you are quickly reminded that you are simply not even close to done yet. It was a simple meal, nothing eloborate and it left me utterly winded.

I can by now put a sock on my foot, but shoes... That is an entirely different barrier still.

I'm doing well I feel. I do feel age is an influence, but along with it, also the level of pain one can endure. I've been walking with pain for so long, that that of itself is not limiting me more than before. The movability of the right limb, the wound and its staples, the muscles and (now travelling down my leg) bruises are new to the game. I'm learning new possibilities and limitations daily, but I've set me a goal for today.

I'm going to walk my dog today. Short round, but still. And so thebquest continues.

Take care all!

Still get pains when driving but to be expected. Tomorrow I am out on a photo shoot so carrying my 8kilo kit will be an experience. My surgeon will review my left in September but it is not troubling me. He wants to deal with it before risking a fracture with my osteoporosis. He thinks I could wait 18 months at most but said we will chat. I have found my medical team to be excellent and their main objective is to have a happy patient with good quality of life

Exercises are waiting to be done. Have a little system. While my milk warms for lattee I do the side lift, while coffee is being added I do the backward one. Drink lattee standing gazing at bird feeder and do the others. Drink lattee 6 times a day. So no excuses
