Just to say 16 weeks after having total hip replacement I have just cut my toe nails and put nail polish on for the first time. Haven't been able to do that for a least two yrs by myself. So pleased and happy . thought I share with all fellow hippies out there .

Well done you must be thrilled. Do you mind me asking. Did you have to have injections in your tummy? I am due for my hip on march 2nd, I am a total nervous wreck as I suffer from acute anxiety. I am having it done in the Nuffield in woking,but under the NHS . Regards Amandah

I've ad 3 replacements now an every time 1 had to have injections daily for 4 to 6 weeks not nice

Hi Amanda yes I had to have injections in stomach for 28 days after op, but don't worry you get used to them I had my op at Nottingham city hodpital, hope all goes well xx

 I live in the U.S. and had a THR in Sept.and had no shots, so the comments about the shots in the stomach are surprising to me. What are those for?

Hi kathee the shots are so you get no blood clots as you are not very Mobile for the first month.x

Oh, ok thank you Diane! I had to take 350 mg of aspirin twice a day for 30 days after my surgery.
