I ruptured my achillies beginning of August now 11 weeks since I did it went to consultant Friday just gone , he said I should be walking in normal shoes now and I'm booked to start physio
I'm still in lot of pain , my big toe and one next to it are numb and have been since I had cast off , consultant says could be due to my back problems , I've still not been offered a scan ,and as said still in pain when walking I'm still in air cast as cannot get my trainers on as foot still swollen, I'm getting sharp pains in my other achillies and am worried that it may rupture
What sort of lead in have you had to "should be walking in normal shoes by now"? I did mine 6 weeks ago, four weeks in an aircast no weight and he concluded it was healing well by touch.. no scans at all. Last couple of weeks cast off at night and supported weight bearing in the cast. Not painful though foot is quite swollen at the end of the day, fine after a nights rest; hope to get physio refferel after the next 2/3 weeks; is your physio appointment soon.. you should be able to express your concern then.. made a note to ask my consultant what to do if i'm worried about progress?
Consultant said if hadn't heard from physio within a week to ring them, I went to Gp about numbness in toes she said tell consultant so I did but he's not worried about it , but surely if I've had it for this long approximately 4-6 weeks there must be something wrong somewhere, when I see physio I will tell them
Sound like you are doing the right things; quite often theres not a magical fix to problems, but they take time to go away? I know patience is one of the things this has taught me .. and its still hard. I still have this faith that consultants know what they are doing, but I still quiz them
