Hi, hope someone out there can advise. I’ve just got date for a sacrocolpopexy operation ( vaginal vault easier to say!) in a fortnight’s time and, assuming it’s not cancelled at the last minute I’d love to hear from anyone who has undergone this op.
A bit of background info:
I had a hysterectomy, posterior and anterior repairs , done vaginaly, in Feb. 2016. My recovery was unbelievably painfree and I felt great straightaway. Perhaps I did too much too soon, for after 5 months the dreaded bulging was back. I was very disillusioned and waited ages before seeking help.
Last year I found a superb urogynacologist who diagnosed vaginal vault...my own GP had assumed it was a posterior prolapse again.
I was put on her waiting list and ended up with a date for late last October. Cancelled due to lack of bed.
In the meantime I’ve had a pessary, and while it helps, I still have difficulty passing a motion. Sometimes I’m on the loo up to 5 times a day and can sense my rectum is worse than it was. When I lie down I feel absolutely normal, but standing or walking too far can be most uncomfortable.
Has anyone experienced that with a vaginal vault?
Also has anyone had this operation done via the abdomen? My urogynae says it will provide a better result. Mesh will not be used....my ligaments will! Think I’ve remembered that correctly!
Finally, I know all about no lifting, taking it easy, etc etc, but not the level of pain to expect...and I’m a complete woose!
Finally finally, when is flying possible? I’ve had to cancel a holiday and keen to get away afterwards.
Sorry for lengthy post, but any suggestion or info will be very welcome.
Good luck to all recuperating girls / ladies out there.
