I have had this condition for 11 years misdiagnosed, had discectomy L4/5 and implant discectomy 3/4 only to be told last week it's SJD. Every time this joint is examined I'm in extreme pain for days till it settles, also got intolerance to strong drugs so pain clinic advise Amitriptyline
which leaves me very groggy in morning. Now to get this investigated as to the cause and treatment, has anyone had same experience.
Hi Christine
No I've been diagnosed with sciatica so far. However, I used to be on a high dose of Amitriptyline for nerve damage years ago and found it made me extremely groggy.
Well that's the symptoms Ive had for 11 years, going down left leg and into groin, keeping me awake at night and very uncomfortable to sit in a chair.
Hi Christine, I am so sorry for your issues. It's terribly painful as I can attest to. Have you tried Lyrica? I find that it helps with the pain and is also a mood elevator. I don't know what country you are in but I'm in the United States.
I had two Microdisectomies in the last months for L4 L5 disc. Some of the nerve pain went away but now I have no feeling in half my leg and my foot! Traded one condition for another. I am trying to come to terms with this because it affects my whole life - can't work, ski, even walk the dog. Are you able to do things?
Have you made any progress since your posting? I am hoping you feel better soon.
I have tried Lyrica but have an intolerance to most strong drugs that's why Amitryptaline has been prescribed, just spent the past 11 years misdiagnosed though so very angry. I am limited to what I can do, some days not able to get out of bed. Not worked since 2009 so debilitating. I am hoping to see a neuro surgeon in near future but I guess there is no quick fix.
