Salt and menieres- help

Are there people with menieres who can esstetially go out to dinner and eat pretty much anything without having vertigo? Are there times when you eat salt and the only side affect is anxiety?

Also do you ever feel shaky inside?

Also what is vestibular neronitis vs menieres?

high there,

If you mean neuritis it is probably a symptom of M.D.

as it means damage to nerve endings through injury

and infection also poor autoinmune system with M.D.

you can have pretty much all these symptoms as for

salt all animals need it i think the body takes what it

needs and gets rid of whats not used through the kidneys,

it seems to be true that a good diet incourages good

health and to much water retaining things i.e. sugar and salt

and others the stats back up the theory that they have a

negative effect on M.D..if you go to a restaurant and they use

fresh food over frozen which contains salt as a preserver the

fresh as got to win over frozen as long as there not using salt

to garnish it...im single  and have menieres anxiety and c.o.p.d

i feel sick most days i carnt stick to a routeen because meneires

and anxiety wont let me so i eat a lot of rubbish i.e biscuits and tv dinners

when the symptoms arent so bad if i did cook something wilst feeling sick

i woodnt keep it down ..i believe theres enough salt in my diet in one day to last a

week and if i didnt take duiretics   id be three times as bad..i have felt my legs turn to

jellly also shaky hands from anxiety and iv felt body withdrawal from alcohol and

forgetting meds..have you had these experiences you dont say if youv had these

experiences or your just putting it out there...menieres theres no cure anxiety there is

and shake is probably best to see a neuroligist...best wishes....

Hello Zsanders,

In response to your post, I can't eat whatever I want anyway, I am on a salt diet to help prevent the build up of fluid in the ears (Hydrops). I take a water pill (hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg) to help control the fluid levels in the ears. I suffer from chronic dizziness in which causes nausea and a direct intervention of difficulty in eating three meals a day. I rarely eat more than twice a day. The majority of my medication has side effects that cause a certain of amount Brain fog anyway. It's a real problem when you have Meniere's and an anxiety disorder as well

menieres's is the main cause of anxiety, living with the uncertainty of the next attack or what symptoms will present itself tomorrow. I hope you can feel better, and everybody is different and some things works for some, and some things just do not.

I have never experienced anxiety without first having an attack of vertigo or tinnitus, which brings on the anxiety. Unfortunately you are bound to the same low salt diet...forever, which, when you look at the detrimental affects in other areas of health, is a good idea. BTW, I take injections of B12 to help with the tinnitus. One shot once a week I give myself.

I have never been a heavy salt user and have not changed my habits in that regard. If one outing is enough to give you problems then your condition is not under control. I would suggest you try high dose betahistine - it takes a month to become fully effective and you stay on a high dose for at least 5 months after last vertigo/nausea attack. If everything under control then you can wean off slowly. This has worked very well for me

It depends although in my case sodium does play a role in the ear pressure, which subsequently leads to an attack. So yes, when I go out I ask a lot of questions about food preparation, but usually settle for plain foods like salads. I take the betahistine and I use a deuretic to help prevent the pressure from building. That’s my story.
