sarcoidosis thirty years ago - still a concern?

I joined the polymyalgi rheumatica group a few weeks ago and have found it very helpful. However today I was wandering through the Internet doing some related research and discovered some information about sarcoidosis.  I am now 68, but when I was about 33 I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis - it presented as an enlarged lymph node in my neck which was removed and biopsied.  To my knowledge I've had no other noticeable symptoms although a report for a recent spine x-ray stated there were signs of old granulomous (sp?) disease - I assume the sarcoidosis - of which I had been unaware.  My question - now that I am on prednisone for PMR, should I be concerned about the old sarcoidosis, or can I safely assume that it is in permanent remission?

Hi Anhaga, Prednisone works wonders on my granulomas due to Sarcoidosis. I had raised lesions on my eye lids and a lump on my forearm about 6 inches long and both were desolved with prednisone. I also had all my other symtoms go into remission. But now that I am off Prednisone for a week now they are all coming back. I hope this helps.

So if anything the pred is either helpful or neutral?  Good to know.

IT HELPS ME A LOT RIGHT NOW. I WAS JUST DIAGNOSED IN FEBRUARY.

If concerned about new activity suggest you start the medical trail. Chest Xray etc.

That is the only way to know your present situation.

I did not know that granulomous shows up on xray. That is interesting.
