Evening fellow Hippies!
5 weeks post op today and saw my wonderful surgeon at 7pm tonight. Really pleased with my progress and range of movement in joint -
showed me before and after X Rays. Joint had collapsed and femur coming out of socket - no wonder so much pain! Other hip looks fine.
Strange to see my 'new' hip on the computer screen with all it's hardware. You cannot believe that you have had all thi s gear put inside you! Amazing!
Have had all restrictions lifted and told to do everything within reason and just pace myself I.e if it feels uncomfortable or hurts then ease off and try again another day
i had Superpath method of THR - my surgeon is only Uk surgeon doing it at present but is training other surgeons in other hospitals to do it now as it is so successful. Hopefully more patients will be able to have this less invasive procedure
Is sending me for some physio which I am pleased about so all looking good
I could not thank him enough for what he has done for me
Hope everyone has had a good day today
Kind wishes Linda xx
Great news. Wishing you continued progress.xxx
That all sounds great hope you continue to do well. What's the superpath THR method? Not heard of that
That is great news pansycat.
good morning dear Linda ...
so happy for you !!! give your self a pat on your back too ... He sounds like a great surgeon .. and you are so right about being grateful for him (them) doing such a great job --- funny huh? when i first (= pre-op) looked at pictures of these implants I thought they were painted in ... didn;t look real to me ... but when I saw mine on the x-ray .... different story - again, our bodies are so hard at work to repair and also accept these foreign objects in our system -
makes me feel so humble - and it is just doing it - we only need to be mindful and if not, she will definitely let me know ....
here is to a good day -
warm hug

Hello Renee
Hope you have had a good night
Do you know I think 'humble' is exactly the word to use and my surgeon was so gracious. I actually said to him that he is like a god to me for giving me back my life and he just smiled and said 'it's what I do'
So much to be thankful for -they are wonderful people!
Slept on my side for first time last night - it was so comfy put a nice soft V cushion between my legs and I was away with the fairies!
When do you move house - I'll bet you are busy getting ready for it, but a house move is not the easiest thing even when you are 100per cent well is it?
Hope you have a pleasant day today - weather forecast good here for today
Going to try to do a few more exercises today - been a bit lazy last couple of days and go for a bit longer walk
Take care of yourself
Lots of love Linda xx💞💞
Hey Linda,
sounds awesome!
Did you look into his eyes and melt too?!

Lovely to hear such good news! XXX
Thats brilliant Pansy....... well done just be careful now and take things gently xx
You've got it in one! And so young too or is it me that's getting older !!
xx
Hi Christine
it's a non invasive THR. -you can google it and watch the procedure. No hip dislocation as in normal THR, no cutting of muscles just parting of them and 3.5 inch incision with small .5 inch incision a couple of inches below that where they insert the driver to locate socket
So recovery much quicker - I have to say touch wood so far I've had no problems at all
I believe they are doing the procedure in Australia and America but only linked hospitals of Coventry and Rugby in this country and I believe in whole of Europe do the procedure
Takes a little longer and 2 surgeons present but I am very impressed with it all
Several folks on this forum have had it done this way
Hope you are doing well
Kind regards Linda xx
Interesting stuff Linda! SuperPath is a minimally invasive method, is that right? I seem to remember seeing a video about this some time back.....
If I may ask, who is the surgeon dong this?
Thanks
Neil
Michael Cronin, Neil, you can google his website - does a lot of work on younger patients too
xx
Wow sounds an awesome method!! I just googled it and watched the video, so happy for you, hope you continue to recover at the same rate.
Lynne
Just watched in ainmated version and then real life. I wonder why we are so far behind....... I went to Grantham hospital, Lincolnshire and they were enthusing over their enhanced recovery plan - post op workshop, no anaesthetic, and 48 hour release from hospital - they are waaaay behind....
Coventry hospital is amazing - so modern and really just like a private hospital in the way they treat you. It's a trauma hospital so you get folks from all over the country being helicoptered in. So they are very geared up on the orthopaedics side. Trouble is they get a lot of cancelled ops due to trauma patients coming in and quite rightly needing immediate treatment. Could not have got better care if I had paid for it though.
