I went to my Dr. today nad he took fluid off my knee and wants to do surgery to take scar tissue and see why after 6 mothns I'm barely about 105-110.Very stiff, pain when climbing and going down stairs. Also pain still wakes me up sometimes at night time. Anyone else had this issue?
Hi. I'm 7.5 mos out from my right Tkr. I have been twice to get my knee drained and fluid tested due to swelling and extension and bend issues with the pain daily. The first time fluid tested normal. So I went two weeks later and dr did a battery of tests because I'm bleeding into the joint and second time it was blood again. I'm waiting for those results. All the lab work for the separate tests came back normal. He wanted to rule out any blood disorder. He also took me off Advil and fish oil and prescribed mobic and Tylenol. The episodes are less and less painful but are still happening. It gets stiff I get pain and then need to ice and I have a portable tens unit. Sr says next may be scar tissue surgery. So I'm waiting.
Oh dear! Let me know how you make out and good luck to you!!
Thx. You let me know too!! Good luck
Thanks 😁
Hi kimmers88-
I am 7 months post TNR and I have pain everyday and I cannot bend my knee past 105/110. If I don't go to the gym, my knee becomes very stiff. I went to see one the the surgeons (not the doctor that performed the surgery) and he told me that I have adhesions (scar tissue). He said that he could do arthroscopic surgery to remove the adhesions and at the same time a manipulation to see if I could get more
bend. However, he also told me that sometimes the manipulation doesn't work. He also said that I need to go back to PT for at least 6 weeks. He also wants me to see one of his collegues to see if the other surgeon agrees with his plan. However, I think that I need to go back to the surgeon that performed the surgery. I am waiting to see what this other surgeon opinion is and if he agrees with the doctor to go ahead
and do the arthroscopic surgery then I will go back to my surgeon and let him do the surgery. I had my TKR at the Mayo Clinic. So yes I am having much of a similar problem except for the swelling. I do ice my knee every night. Wish you and let us know how are doing. J21370
