I have had 2 surgeries for herniated disc now I have scar tissue that is still causing alot of pain in my lower back and down my leg. Doctor said they do not like to go in and remove the scar tissue because they could cut a nerve which then I would not be able to walk. Thay have recommended a back stimulator which would be implanted in my back and would scramble the pain so that I would not feel the pain. But with this you can never go in a hot tub again and you have to be careful when you bend and twist. I am trying to see if there is a procedure to break up scar tissue or even to disolve it without major surgery.
Hi Dawn,
If you post this in the sciatica or spinal discussion forums, you'll probably get a few responses.
Personally, I would leave well alone and stick with painkillers. The spine is delicate and if you have had complications after your surgery, further invasive procedures may cause more problems. I had what I thought was simple chiropractory on my back and it made the existing pain worse and more frequent. The stress of it all led to IBS.
However, as Laura suggested, post your comment on the spinal forum for further advice.
Maybe you could try physical therapy, they have ways of breaking up scar tissue with exercise. Even a chiropractor might be able to help you.
