I find it very hard to sleep on my back, last night I wanted to use the bathroom and found I couldnt move my left leg, trying to slide it across the bed was agony! the pain was so bad it made me scream and shout! I wont repeat what I was saying! I think I scared my poor little dog, its the worst its ever been! It took me a long time to get out of bed and struggled going to the toilet, I wear an ankle brace because of dropped foot, of course I didnt have it on and that made it even more difficult because I havd to lift my foot to clear the floor so the pain was unbearable! I couldnt get back to bed because of the pain so i ended up sitting in my chair from about 4am until 8am I took pain killers so i could attempt getting dressed, it was torture i was so worried i might have dislocated my left hip? however I Called the hospital and explained what had happened they asked if I had any swelling or bruising etc I couldnt see anything, and because I am walking and managed to get dressed they suggested i wait to see my surgeon next week i have appointment 18th JUNE and in the meantime to go see my GP which I have been trying to do! i just wondered if anyone else have had anything like this? I still have the pain and having to walk with my stick but normally I am able to walk without it in the house cant think why i am suffering so much. I will take it easy today in hopes it will right itself
Hi Cyndey, I hope everything is well. I haven’t experienced that but I did raise and bend my surgical leg when I was getting into the bed one night causing excruciating pain and scared myself to believe I had possibly dislocated my hip. I too called the doctor and was told it was unlikely since I was still able to move. I had to take Tylenol for a couple of days and the pain did go away after that. Hopefully yours will go away as well

Just wanted to tell you that my hip crew ( after an accident, I had screws in my hip and a nail down my femur ) dislocated two months after my surgery and , like you, I didn’t have any swelling or bruising. I was in extreme pain and got out of bed on many occasions to sit in a chair.
GPs just kept changing my meds and it was at the hospital follow up that they discovered the screw had penetrated my hip socket,
Not trying to scare you at all, of course, but just saying that you won’t necessarily get swelling abd bruising. That needs an xray!

Hi Kate thank you for letting me know its still very painful and very worrying as the pain was horrendous during the night, it was that bad i thought i was going to have to call an ambulance! i thought i wasnt going to be able to walk i am walking but wouldnt be able to walk far! I will see how it goes today and if its no better i will see my GP I wont sleep in my bed tonight incase i have a repeat episode! i will sleep on my sofa with reclining seats. i will be seeing my surgeon next week and should be having xrays done? i just hope its nothing serious thanks again x
Hi Letitia perhaps thats what i did without realising i havent experienced pain like it! I felt sick and very frightened as i live on my own!!! I am being very careful today and wont be sleeping in my bed, i will sleep on sofa which have reclining seats until i have seen my surgeon next Tuesday, hopefully i will have xrays done thanks again its so easy to move the wrong way. I will continue with my pain killers hope everything is good for you now thanks again Cyndey

sry to hear about your pain last night. I attached a pic of a leg lift to use to ease your leg in & out of bed. It was quite helpful for me, I ordered it online. Good luck with the sleeping and recovery. xo
Hi thank you for sending the picture of the leg lift it was very thoughtful of you, I do have one of these as well used it just after I came home but the pain was there even when i sat up it was horrible, i thought i dislocated my hip. its still very painful as i am sat down I have appointment to see my surgeon on the 18th JUNE for my final check up, just hope everything is ok thanks again and take care
