Hi Everyone, I am going to see my psych dr tomomorrrow with a view to coming off Seroxat, been on various doses and now feel like its not working, researched venlafaxine and thought maybe give this one a try, btw my problem is more to do with anxiety than depression, but all the posts seem so negative, with more people wanting to get off it.
As it helped anyone for anxiety, I am looking to stay on it long term if it works.
Thanx to anyone who replies
P.S Is the slow release better than the other, and what are the side effects like, how long does it take to work. I know everybody different,LOL. Bet you have heard that one more than once!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Colette, I was on Venlafaxine for a year, came off about 7 weeks ago and am still having withdrawal symptoms such as brain zaps. Venlafaxine is strong and I would suggest not going on it if your not having panic attacks every day or don't have severe depression because the side effects just aren't worth it. Side effects are basically what is listed here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venlafaxine#Common_side_effects and from what I've read everyone gets Brain Zaps if they miss a dosage and when they come off the medication, basically electrical zaps in your brain and also ones that run down your body and can hurt.
How bad is your anxiety? To get over anxiety and depression we really need to force ourselves to change our lifestyles and do what we did before we got \"ill\". No medication out there cures depression or anxiety, all they do is make things easier and then like Venlafaxine slowly shut down the brain so you get memory loss. There are some good books out there like Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway by Susan Jeffers that will help you more than any medication will. I hope this helps and best of luck
i too felt the same 2 years ago but i took to it straight away. I too read all the horror stories and was petrified to take it-but it was my only hope-and it paid off-I have never felt better in my life!!!
I took 150mg slow release capsules and am now dropping to 75. You will know in first few days how it affects you-and if it's bad, don't take it.
I hope it's working for you. Are you still taking it/and side effects? x
Been on 75mg since friday, had a rough weekend, but today I feel a bit brighter, no voming or nausea. Started to take it around 7pm after a meal, and I am sleeping better now.
Did you have start up probs, if so how long did it last, why are you coming down/off them, I was 0n 37.5 for 2 weeks before it got increased, see the psych again in 2 weeks and I think he will increase it again.
