Hello I'm new here. I didn't know where else to go so I came here. I'm a very happy and positive person but I am getting a lot of intrusive thoughts! Last night I was getting self harm thoughts and ones of hurting family too! I'm just scared because I know 100% my parents would not understand as my aunt had "evil thoughts" and she's now alone and not spoken too anymore! I get alot of panic attacks and
I get the intrusive thoughts with them. I can't see anyone for help as I live with my parents due to disabilities and learning problems! I'm just scared because I don't want these thoughts! I just wanted to sit and cry earlier and I just want to feel understood! Please can any help? Thanks for reading!
Can't you see your doctor? That would seem to be the obvious answer. x
Your obsessing over having these thoughts and your performing mental rituals that you might not even be aware of. Welcome to OCD. I suggest you find a good therapist and pysch and find a good SSRI. Zoloft is good worked for me.
I can't really see a doctor as my mum drives me everywhere and I can only walk to my local shops. I don't want my parents knowing because I can't handle them knowing this yet! I don't want people thinking I'm crazy or whatever! Also I finished iron medication about a month ago and I was wondering if low iron could cause intrusive thoughts? Ive only seemed to had them no longer than a year at best I'd say
Hi Samcube
First of all let me say that intrusive thoughts, as scary as they may seem sometimes, are exactly that.. just thoughts. Intrusive thoughts are actually more common than you think and don't always mean that something is wrong. When you start to obsess over the thoughts or end up spending a lot of time trying to avoid the thoughts then that's when it can be a problem.
As long as you know you won't harm yourself or anyone else then I think you have nothing to worry about.
You said you get panic attacks.. it would be worthwhile speaking to a doctor about this as there may be some anxiety there. If you don't want you're parents to know you don't have to tell them.. you could ask your mum to take you to doctors but go in to see him by yourself. You could always mention the intrusive thoughts if it's causing you a lot of worry.
Take care
Lisa
Hi, I read your problem it is not such a big issue. You are thinking so much about things that need to be ignored. Everyone goes through it. No need to worry. To ignore these thoughts, you can get yourself engaged in some other activities like watching movies or tv series and reading some books. You can get out of those thoughts permanently by doing meditation for a half an hour or so. You will see improvement by doing the above stuff.
Have a great life!
