Hallo Mandy

I can understand your fear - I take my temperature several times a day, am frightened to death that if I do contract the virus and react badly, requiring hospital, what on earth will happen to my three cats? One in particular won’t go willingly to a stranger if someone tries to catch him to take him somewhere or feed him. He will just run away. (He was a stray to start with).

I, too, feel as though I have a sore throat, but suspect it may be cat related so need to hoover throughout and change my bedclothes (one of them sleeps on the bed). Also, I was painting outside yesterday afternoon, very close to a huge ivy archway, and ivy always makes me feel ill.

However, if you are doing all the right things when you are shopping, using your anti-bacterial gel numerous times, also on your trolley handle and on ATMs and debit/credit card machines on the checkout, keeping your social distance (and more, if possible) and not going into a shop if it seems fairly crowded and restricting your trips, then you can do no more. You will have given yourself (and others) the best chance. Try to pick up food items (tins or packs etc) which don’t look as though someone has picked them up and put them down again (you will also get later dated items that way if you go to the back of the shelves). Places like Aldi and Lidl tend to keep all goods in their original boxes on the shelves so they wouldn’t have been handled in the store). At the same time, don’t handle any items except the one that you will be picking up, in order to protect others, also.

Shop people reading this may not be happy that you are ruining their date rotation system, but this is war!

Being cooped up inside for most of the time may mean that you are absorbing dust in the air, which may make your throat sore, so if you can hoover round with the windows open and get some fresh air in, all the better.

I daresay that all of us are extra anxious at the moment (except for people who don’t realise the seriousness of the situation), so I doubt that you and I are alone in our fears. If you can think of it as doing all the right things to make sure that OTHERS don’t get infected, then you will hopefully be doing the right thing for yourself.

hi Mandy
we are in the same boat since I’m suffering from anxiety and yesterday I went out with my son and my husband to get some fresh air because he’s out of school for the rest of the year in when I got back I start feeling you know stuffy nose and a little bit of a sore throat and a scratchy throat and I freaked out as I have anxietyI do suffer from allergies around this time and it’s just you never know having I do work as essential and I keep my distance from others. is problaby Allergies are weather is changing so much is allergies are weather is changing so much is call one day warm the other day and it triggers people with allergies so I’m sure so be OK unless you have really severe chest pain just call your doctor

we are in the same situation i have been taken my tempetarure every day 2x a day to make me feel better .

i feel the same way. The problem is the news and all you hear about are the people dying and the stories of severe cases. It doesnt help that im an essential employee and still have to work with the public or that my brother is a doctor in NYC and im worried about him and hear all his stories. Ive had a burning feeling in my chest and runny nose for a few days now. My husband and daughter were sick last week with cough and fever but are fine now . Doesnt help that he couldnt get tested and his flu test was negative. The not knowing is the worst part. I keep reminding myself the mortality rate is actually very low.I know all my friends who arent usually anxious people are all feeling similaryou are not alone

Just wanted to send you a virtual hug. We are all in this together. I have bad anxiety, but now my anxiety is very high. I worry about my whole family as a few have to work around a lot of people. My husband and I haven’t seen our kids and grand kids for weeks as we are social distancing, breaks my heart. Hoping for a treatment until a vaccine is found. Remember you aren’t alone,it’s allergy time which makes it even creepier. A lot of people have allergies and that is what most of us probably have. Love to all.

If it makes you feel better plenty of people are in the same situation. I’ve been suffering from this for about a month.

A month ago I had a fever which lasted 2 days and ever since then I’ve been as anxious as hell. Countless sleepless which is not helping recovery and I still have an infection which my body is trying to fight off.

The last 1-2 weeks I’ve had breathing troubles, i.e. waking up breathing heavier than normal. My doctor tells me not to worry and it’s all stress related, but easier said than done.

You are not alone in this!
