hey guys,
sounds so stupid but i have anxiety about taking my anxiety meds!!!! haha
i have generalized anxiety disorder, and i have constant physical anxiety symptoms, they literally never ever go away. has anyone tried citalopram for GAD? i DONT feel depressed, i DONT have phobias of things and i DONT have social anxiety!! , i just worry constantly about everything, mind never ever stops, and have really bad blurred vision and depersonalization.
Doctor said try citalopram 10mg ?? whats side effects? and anyone gain weight on these? any advice plzzz? TIA x
I feel the same with meds, don't feel pressured into taking meds if you'd rather not, therapy is every bit if not more effective, just whatever works for u
I have the worst fear of medication. But taking the meds was the best thing I ever did. Side effects will be there but they will go away.
thank you for the reply!!
what ones have you taken ? i do want to go on them because its been 6 months now and i know its just time to do something about it, therapy isnt working, and i know its just this chemical imbalance, do you have generalised anxiety also ? and did you gain weight ? (just seen some sites and people have said that theys gained tonnes of weight, and i find it so hard shifting) obviously if the citalopram helps my anxiety i dont mind being abit fatter!! lol xxx
ive had this for about 6 months, and ive been putting it off for ages, but feel like its time to go on meds now but just very anxious about them, cos ive heard some awful side effects!! xx
Hello jade256
Don't be too scared of meds. If one doesn't suit you, then your GP should be able to find one that does. Citalopram did not suit me, but I have taken Fluoxetine for a long time now. I wouldn't say that I am addicted to it, but feel comfortable taking it. My GP does not suggest coming off of it, so I vary the dose (which is allowable) according to stressful situations. Good Luck.
Therapy takes time, its not a quick fix, there are many different types of therapy if one doest work. Meds aren't a guaranteed fix, and as you know come with side effects. There's no way to know if its a chemical imbalance, sometimes it is,sometimes not, therapy will help regardless. Meds are fine short term, but if there are issues to be resolved,it won't resolve them, thats not what they are for
I am on same tablets same dosage best thing I ever did x
really? thank you, feel abit reassured now! do you have similar symptoms to me? x
Yes the works, I did have some side effects if I'm honest but no worse than I was feeling before I took them just bear with it it's so worth it I very rarely have a wobble as I call my attacks lol and I mean rarely xx
ahhh okay thank you !! i need to take them, im just very anxious about side effects!! any side effect has to be better than being anxious constantly really!!! did you have any blurred vision or depersonalization at all ? i just want it to go !! x
medication, not citalopram though, for anxiety has been a TREMENDOUS help. dont know where id be without it.
BUT citalopram works for a lot of people
10 mg is the lowest dose, so therefore less of a change, I was really depressed and had real bad panic disorder when I was prescribed 20mg of citalopram (celexa) and It was kinda weird for a week..it stopped a loooot of my deep bouts of crying, for you since you're not depressed I'm guessing it won't be so dramatic, it'll probably just make you happier and more relaxed. Its a low dose, you could even try taking half at first then working your way up to 10mg. It was my favorite antidepressant when I was on them, it has good reviews. it took me two days to finally take it lol don't overthink it..i think a lot of people get nervous about new medicines
sorry I was not clear! I meant I am on medication but it is not citalopram! I just meant medication works well at least it has for me!
