My scarr has suddenly become so sensitive, is this normal or is it the healing from inside. Been like this for two days. 6 weeks post op. Is there anything I can put on it. I have been using bio oil for 3 weeks.
Yes Hazel you are not alone, the sensitivity of my scar comes and goes. I don't understand why this happens, I use my bio oil at least twice a day.
Mine is sensitive too, at 20 weeks. It comes and goes.
Thanks Carol, I too use the bio oil twice a day as well.
Oh didn't realise it could last so long, I don't remember this about my other knee done 7 years ago...in fact I don't seem to have had the hassle this one causes...
My incision is also sensitive, can't stand to have anything touch it. I've been using Vitamin E but i see most others are using bio oil, maybe I'll switch.
But we still have the sensitivity even with bio oil.
My scar is really painful at 8 weeks post op at one end but my wound did burst so I had a second surgery to check for infection and re-seal.
I use E45 cream on it to keep it supple but I was told by my physio that I need to massage the scar as soon as I can bear it. She said I need to remember that it is surrounded by muscle etc so if it hardens then it impacts on mobility of leg.
The pain is usually the nerve damage and can be a good thing as feeling is returning. I find if I actually press on the entire scar with my hand on something like a towel then the stinging pain elleviates slightly (not sure why).
Hope it improves x
Wishful thinking on my part that bio oil was the cure for everything.
