Scarred stiff is home wahay!

Just to let you know, had my THR last Thursday came home on Monday. For those who saw my previous post I was mostly scared of the spinal anaesthetic. No need to be, it was great didn't feel a thing and was pain free for the rest of the first day. Day 2 felt awful like a lot of you said I would, was in a lot of pain and when physio came round and got me up I just wanted to cry. Day 3 my blood pressure dropped and felt weird all day. Sunday felt a lot better and was using crutches well. Monday conquered the stairs so they let me home.

Now home it's a bit scary but getting better every day. Keep thinking, this time last week. So glad it's over but honestly wasn't as awful as I thought it would be. I know that full recovery is a while away but thank you to all of you who have been supportive and sent me good wishes

Thanks again xxx

Really glad for you ,I felt almost the same had spinal on Wednesday ,felt awful Thursday and had physioo on Friday and conquered stairs so came Friday teatime .Do the exercises and use your crutches it helps .My new hip is great now 9 weeks on but other leg now hurts like mad .

Thats very quick to get home, I am picking up my referral letter on Friday both my hip joints need doing thanks for posting here looking forward to hearing more about your recovery soon, best of luck, and kind regards to you.  Ian.

Good for you...your over the worst now  and every day will get better and you`ll wonder why you were so worried...its daunting when your unaware..but i`ve had two knee replacements and a hip replacement...i`m an old hand now..good luck with your progress

So glad it went well smile

Yey that's what I'm bricking it about too this is very reassuring xxxxx

Well done.  You will begin to feel better everyday, but don't try to rush it.  The spinal anaesthetic is great and really worth having instead of a general.  The 6 weeks soon goes, much quicker than I expected.  I have just been for a check up and they were really pleased with my progress, so do everything they tell you to and you will make a speedier recovery.

Good to hear - well done

i would never have spinal i would rather be put out i never had no pain when i came round my husband had spinal and he said the lower part of his body felt weied not for me

Glad you're home  Susan

and glad all went well. I'm 72 and had only two surgeries. First at 70. I had such peace about the surgery even the first one. So thankful. First was shoulder replacement second hip. Now I do have nerve pain in my leg after hip replacement. I'm scheduled for a nerve conduction test and that I don't want to go for.

Yay Susan! So glad the worst part is over and you are on the up side now! Keep us updated so we can be your cheerleaders!

Dawn

Hahaha, will do Dawn xx

Hi Susan, really pleased for you that it is all going so well.  I'm quite nervous about being awake and I have found it reassuring to read your comments.  Good luck with the rest of your recovery! X

To be really honest with you Paula, I did wake during the op but cross my heart, didn't feel a thing. I felt nice and warm and surprisingly very relaxed. They immediately gave me more sedation and I was off again. I would not hesitate to have a spinal again. The lady in the bed next to me had a general and I felt so much better than her. You'll be fine xxx

Glad it went well. it's reassuring to read your comment.

Thanks biggrin

Hi Susan,

Glad you're out of hospital. The worst is over, hopefully it'll be onward and upward from now on.

I found there were little setbacks, usually when I was over-confident that I was getting stronger and overdid it, but just rein back a bit if this happens to you, you'll soon be back on track. Good luck with your recovery.

Jean

i would never have a spineal i would rather be put out wake up all done i have had 2 knee done and hip and feel great

Yay, you Susan! I came home a few days ago. Little tip from me that you probably wont need (not being an idiot like myself). Keep on top of the painkillers, I tried to cut back on the hard stuff but it meant I did not sleep well, was grumpy and yes in pain! Everyone says the same on here but I thought I knew better *sigh*.

Happy healing ☺

I would never have spinal ever! Well, at least not by choice. The horrors I am capable of imagining on top of the sounds I could hear would cause me to throw a fit big enough to interfere with the procedure and they would HAVE to knock me out deeper.
