Schambergs and me!!!!

I have just been diagnosed with Schamberg's (capillaritis).

I can point to when mine started (Aug 2005) as to whether or not it was borne of something else I don’t know. At the time I was going through a stressful period in my personal life.

It manifested itself on my right shin, actually looked like a bite as it itched a bit.

From there it spread to my ankles (both) and then slowly up my legs.

It isn’t as prominent as some of the pictures I have seen and I am not a vain person so what it looks like to me doesn’t matter, but now I know what it is and what it is called I can at least get a better grip on it.

I also get purpura or tiny purple dots in clusters on my legs and forearms before the discolouration starts. But when I get a flair-up on my forearms if I exfoliate with a luffas and moisturising soap it goes, completely but unfortunately that doesn’t work on my legs.

From reading various bits of information online and what my dermatologist told me, there is no cure if it goes it will go of its own accord. Some suggestions to help are flight socks, exfoliation and moisturising.

Bit of medical and other background from me.

Acid reflux (medicated)

Hypertension (medicated)

Non-Smoker, although it did start whilst I was smoking.

I like a drink but not to excess.

I stand all day working machinery.

Overweight by 20Kgs.

Never done drugs, just a little pot when I was younger.

I had Schamberg's from the belt line to the feet. IT was confirmed by biopsy. I found a product that I purchased from Spain called \"Skin-Cap\". I applied it twice a day and all symptoms disappeared in 3 days. I was symptom free for 6 years and it came back. I ordered some more \"Skin-Cap\" and again it disappeared in 3 days. I have never been more relieved i my life (The itching was ferocious).

Hey, i was diagnosed with Schambergs this year (2009) and I know about as much as you guys about our condition, however from reading this post my case is kinda similar. In 2002 i was in a bike crash, was lucky to be alive, and it was after that when my rash started. My mum had always said she thought it was stress related but when i mentioned this to my doc he just shruged it off. During the seven years i've had the disease it did once nearly clear up but it came back, bugger!! I get my rash on the inside of my legs worse and on my ankles and arm pits, i am lucky in a way though because my Schambergs doesn't itch or very rarely but still wouldn't mind getting rid of it. Not much more to say on the matter really but if anyone has any comments or ideas on how to get rid of it I would be grateful for a reply, cheers guys....

Heres a little personal info:

Had skin problems before (Eczema, ChickenPox, Scabies, Shingles plus more which i can't remember off the top of my head)

Smoke cannabis but not cigs

Used to take drugs before the bike crash

Drink but not heavily

My job is Tree Surgery so on my feet most of the day

Right weight for my size (fit as a fiddle really)

I'm male

23 years old

5'11''

Hi there.

I don't know if you read this, since you wrote the post over a year ago. In case you do, what is the exact name of the skin-cap product you were using? Myself, I have schambergs from the middle of my shins, down to the top of my socks. I would really love to get rid of it..
