Anyone with 2 or more years of Bell's Palsy?
Yes 2 yrs 6 months
What kind of experience have you had? Any sugery or helpful treatments? I have had eyelid surgery and botox but it hasn't improved my appearance that much.
No surgeries, but I do have facial and full body massages every 3-6 weeks it helps so amazlingly , i had alot pf sweeling in my check every month but now that seems to be better with regular massages from a licensed massause, i had alot of ear pain my eye brow is still numb although i can move it just seems i lost some feeling in it an my eye lid, for people that dont no me it is not noticeable but when i look in mirror or take a pic its noticable to me, i had a very hard time when it first happened , was out of work 45 days , could not drive either. Couldnt go out until i could see improvement, but thats just me.
It seems my cheek is swelling a little now. Haven't had that feeling since the beginning. Is that going to happen forever???? I have a bitter taste and dry mouth too. I didn't know this would keep coming back. No one suggested massaging so often. I have seen plenty of Drs. and they didn't stress that.
Hi Sharon.
I have had Bells Palsy for 1 year11 months. I have been fighting depression because if the feelings of despondency.
What have you done as far as any treatment, if any? I know there isn't much out there. The lucky ones get over this in a few months. I think the older you are the harder to get rid of. Are you a senior citizen?
I am 61. I had the usual course of treatment. Then told that I might recover in a matter of weeks months etc. I gradually improved over 6 months or so but can't shake it off. Friends tell me that I look almost like my old self. Trouble is I don't really and I feel like a different person to who I was 2 years ago.
after making a fuss at the doctors I have finally been referred to a neurosurgeon . He was thefirstperson to actually listen to me and he is trying to find me some physio. I havnt heard anything yet though but living in hope
I feel like you do. Everyone says I look great but I don't think so. I did Physical therapy, which you can do long after onset of Bell's, and that may help. You need a PT specialist for Bell's. It is a specialty. I did botox with a neurologist, which of course wears off. I did eye lid surgery because I wanted it anyway. The eyes are different size, so don't know if that was the way to go but the loose skin is gone.
Yes we do sound like we are having a similar experience Sharon. I have been considering Acupuncture as it can't do any harm and I know someone who recovered after it. I am also going to start yoga in a few weeks, just waiting for recovery from a hand operation.
Do you have less stamina as I get very tired in the daytime if I try to do too much. I actually take a nap sometimes ! Makes me feel older than my years, good job I have retired as I don't think I could cope with a job.
Every day I wake up with the hope that it will have gone. I know that indeed to stay positive but it is a daily struggle........
If you are having acupuncture it should be done by a liscensed Dr. not just anyone who does acupuncture. It is special for Bell's Palsy. Insurance doesn't cover it but I suppose you know that. I am 10 years older than you but I don't notice any tiredness or need a nap. My bitter taste and dry mouth seem better today, hooray.
