Second cast/ more swollen now and cast on wrong?

Hi everyone.

I seem to have a lot of questions but this forum has been great for me and I'm sure others!

So Monday of this week I had the second cast put on and stitches out. This cast feels so different from the first one! I feel like I'm only walking on the heel and that my calf is very restricted compared to the first cast. To the point on almost "charlie horsing!' Today waking up I can feel my ankle very swollen in the cast and the cast is on to take the swelling down.

Normal?

Call my doc?

This is such an up and down process its soooo frustrating!

Thanks again!

Rose

That happened to me I just rang the plaster room and they told me to go down. Took it off checked wounds and I asked for extra padding before cast went back on. It was loads better

Get it checked out, probably something and nothing but complications can and do happen. I think with a second cast it’s so much more snug than the first, especially if you have had a backslab/half cast on post op.

Let us all know how you get on. Claire. Xx

No not normal ...cast should support but not be so tight at to be uncomfortable.  Two choices, get a new one or have the hospital split both sines and then tape it together... if you go the second option I would suggest no weight bearing and go see your dr

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I am going to call my docs office tomorrow. I tried all day doing my walking on it and so on but  to no avail. Hopefully they will get me right in to fix it.

Thanks again!
