First of all I have HSV 1 genital. I noticed a bump on my labia tonight. I had my first outbreak about 4 months back. I remember getting really sick, having prodrome symptoms, and having painful sores. This bump I noticed last night came and appeared with no prodrome symptoms at all. It's in a different spot then the first 3 bumps which appeared in the first outbreak. It hasn't come to a head yet and just looks like a red bump. It also is sore like a pimple would be and I don't remember my herpes sores being sore until after they burst and left actual sores. Basically I just want advice on if I should right away start my backup course of acyclovir or not. Don't want to take a few then find out I don't need it since it's expensive (even with insurance) and a half finished course is useless.
Sounds like it's something different, but difficult to be certain because later outbreaks are often less severe than the first one. Are you able to upload a picture of the lesion?
I'm not sure where to upload a picture here? Don't see any options. It looks like it's coming to a white head so now pretty sure it's just a pimple. I know my lesions felt like they were right on the surface of the skin like blisters, where as this feels like it's deeper down like a clogged pore.
