Four weeks is still very early. Just do what you can and take it easy.
I felt very similar to what you describe at four weeks. I am now at twelve weeks and the pain has all gone and so has the limp.
I went through all of that for weeks. As I live in a 1st floor maisonette I was stuck indoors for over 5 weeks. The same as yourself I had bad days and dreaded nights as I was unable to sleep. It didn't help that I had both hips done together as I HAD to sleep on my back. Now I am 12 weeks post op on Tuesday. I am able to do most things as normal ...Can't reach my feet yet though. Sometimes take 1 crutch to go out but will transfer to a stick next week. Hang on in there _ there is light at the end of the tunnel !

Hi Marla,
Yes I know how you feel.Lack of sleep doesn't help and the operation is a sho
ck to your body and mind.Early days.It will get better Best Wishes
Janet xx
I'm 4 weeks 4 days and I'm feeling your pain literally ππ’. It is still very early days . Your body has not just been through a huge operation but has been left with a foreign object in it that your body is tryouts figure out what to do with it . Major surgery . It's really hard to feel like we are going backwards πͺπͺπͺ, I feel it to , it's heart breaking and frustrating. Im sleeping worse than I have been over the past 10 days . π. I think it's our body's way of saying " hay!!!!' Slow down I'm not ready to go that fast " we must listen xxxxxx . Rest rest rest
Your a few days a head of me then every one heals at different rates you have bad days and you have good. I think its the messed up sleeping patterns thats dont help either best of luck
Madia, it's difficult but you're going to have to sit down and have some seep thought and talk with yourself. I'm sure most of us were all over the place with feeling better one day and then feeling like we had a setback the next. Once I accepted that this healing was going to be a rollercoaster so to speak, I've at least done away with the stress. There are many variables to give us a feeling a setback. I just talked the other day in a post about taking a few steps without the cane and pain. Feeling really good- the closet to my old self that I've felt in probably more than a year. Here were are today, I wake up feeling extra stiff and pained. I know I have to walk it off though. Didn't do all of this to not have success!! Heck, I have my 2nd PT session on Tuesday. I already KNOW I'm going to feel like 10 steps back - even before the session is finished, but ice and rest are your friend. Stay focused on your goals and not on the hurdles we all have to get over. #PositiveEnergy. Happy Sunday!!
Thank i will try my Terapist session started 24 November after doctor review.
Long way to go. I just wish the pain get better. And sleep. Bood luck with your sessions not much pain and as well nappy Sunday
I wish My limp go away too. Thank u.
madia
Hang in there
4 weeks is not long
Take one day at a time
Ice your leg when sore and elevate
You will feel better
I'm on week 7 and finally can sleep without feeling pain - I don't sleep on my surgery hip side
Dear Madla,
It is okay ... Are you lonely ? It is not easy to go through this to begin with and to be alone is even harder ...
I had 2 hip surgeries and I was alone, so I understand how you can feel lonely and alone and sad and depressed ...
You wrote that friends visit you, right? Can they help you clean up ? like hoovering, or mopping the floor ?
This too will pass .... it is such a roller coaster ride ....
hang in there
big warm hug
renee
Rene u are the best . U make me feel better.. yes im alone
Girls from work they do come and help with some task.worst part is like you sad to be lonely and some time very depres.
Hopefully it will get better.thank u and i sendin big kiss and hug from Australia.
Agree with the rest ,the body has been through such a lot ..it takes such a long time to get back to normal ..don't be too hard on yourself and keep in touch with us ..we are all going through the same thing ..gx
Morning Madla! God knows I know how you feel! I'm 12 & 1/2 weeks out from my surgery. Please note my first was in July, 3 weeks later I dislocated it and had to have a revision. Talk about 2 steps back!! I felt way way back and complete hopelessness!! I have cried every day and cried so hard! I feel I'm never going to feel better. I'm limping too having to rely on a crutch. BUT......I can honestly tell you I've noticed changes. Before I could not bend my knee at all, now it's bending pretty good! The limping is getting less! No real hip pain but muscle pain as to be expected as we move and exercise this new hip. I guess what I'm trying to say is it does get better. For some it's quick for others like me it's longer. It's discouraging and frustrating but changes do happen and things get better ! I'm still a long way from being better BUT I know I'm getting there!! So will you!! Crying is good for you!! Trust me I cry and days I cry very hard!! And that's ok!! Give yourself a chance and be kind. I know for you it may be hard having no family but if friends are willing to help let them ! Don't feel helpless or useless!! It does nothing for you!! Try to stay positive and most importantly do your exercises and rest! Things will get better. But if you need peace of mind see your dr just to see how things are coming along. Sometimes knowing from your dr that things are healing and look good gives you the confidence you need! Prayers going your way! π€π€π€ LD

Hi Marla,Please Remember that you have had a major op.It can take between 6 to 9 months to get better,if not longer. We are all different. Please get in touch with your physio,as he or she will advise you.Have you got anyone to help you.? It's very important to seek advice & please don't hesitate to ask for people to help.Regards Amanda
It will get better. Do your exercises. Took me 12 weeks to really feel good. Now at one year I forget I even had the surgery
I can't wait until I can forget I ever had this surgery. π’, feels like such a long way away πͺ. I'm sure that's all our goals ππ»

Hi Madla,
Yes, it will get better...could be that you over did it OR that the barometric pressure dropped OR the lack of sound sleep is catching up on you.
For sleep our bodies produce Melatonin in anticipation of sleep...but we now have so many lights and screen to look at, that that delicate balance becomes skewed...my neuro suggested I take Melatonin no more than 3 mg two hours before bedtime...really helps
hugs
