My Mum has breast cancer and for someone with anxiety this is not easy. I somehow managed but tonight it's really bad. I can't even tell my Mum how I feel because I don't want to upset her. This week they gave her a date for a operation- I have less than 2 weeks to get my head around this plus sit an exam and run a 10k race. I then have two nights out planned and for someone with social anxiety I really can't cope. I don't have anyone to speak to. I can't deal with my heart beating this fast or the crying the panic attack brings. I am staring at a propranolol tablet right now not sure if I should take it as I also have anxiety about tablet taking! Sorry I'm in a real bad place tonight.
I am truly sorry to read this. Anxiety by itself is terrible, but coupled with a loved one going through something as traumatic as cancer . I can only imagine what that is like. I am sending hugs out to you right now. If you need some relief, please do take some meds to help you cope right now. Praying for you.
Hi Bella,
I feel overwhelmed just reading about what you have on your plate.
Perhaps if you prioritize your commitments .
Mum...take a deep breath, let it out slowly...then go to her, give her a hug and say, "mum, I love you" then ask, "what can I get for you?"
Next, study for the exam...education is important to your personal growth and success.
That leaves the 10K and the two nights out...of these three, choose the one which brings you the most peace...decline the other two.
Bella, Patient is filled with lovely people all over the world...
Hugs,
judith
Just spend as much time with your mom as possible, nothing is more important. Doesn't it make you feel happy though to know her opertion is scheduled so they are treating it and getting it gone from her body eventually? Just think, an operation is a good thing even though it is scary.
As for the exam, why not try to include your mom in your studying? Maybe while she's doing something, you can study next to her or she can quiz you..
Just take deep breaths in through your nose and very slow out of your mouth. If you know the pill would help, why not take it.. Have you taken them before? If not, maybe try laying down and watching a funny show or video online to distract yourself.
I'm sure your mom wouldn't mind if you told her how you feel, she would probably feel good knowing she is able to help you through a hard time in your life, since she's having a hard time in hers right now.
Just take it all day by day. Make sure you're there for her after her operation, and I'm sure you will do great on your exam and 10k, that's amazing that you can handle so much. I think you're Alot stronger than you know!
