See hazy after cataract surgery

I had my cataract surgery done in left eye 4 weeks ago. So far I see hazy and too bright from that eye. I still have some discomfort in this eye. I am using drops as prescribed by the doctor. Is that normal or I should worry about it? Is because the eye has not heeled completely yet and that is why I see hazy? I don't want to get the second eye done till I am satisfied with this eye.

Hello USSB when I had my cataracts removed my right eye had a slight problem similar to your own. It turned out  that I had a slight infection that antibiotic drops cleared up..

You could be allergic to the eye drops. I had my left eye done last June (2014), and the same thing happened. It transpired that I am allergic to almost every eye drop on the market. However, because this was not identified, in spite of me keep telling the consultant that I thought this could be the problem. I am now still having problems with dry eye which I never had before. So 10 months on, the sight in that eye is now very good, but the eye socket etc, and possibly the cornea, could be permanently damaged. I now use Hylo Forte every 2 hours of the day, anti-allergen drops twice a day, and and eye ointment before I go to bed. There was nothing wrong with my eye (except cataract), I wish I had never had it done. I see that in the USA, they now treat every catarract surgery with 'dry eye drops' to prevent any permanent damage. Wish I had read that ages ago. But you must address this, and bear in mind that allergy or dry eye could be your problem. Good luck

Hello Ussb94, I had my cataract surgery done in my left eye 5 weeks ago and in my left eye I see clearly but on the second week I developed Central Macular Oedema so instead of finishing with the eye drops few weeks ago I will have to continue till Beginning of April when I will go for a check up. Because my right eye has still the cataract my problem is that I see slightly double. However I would would say about your heazyness in you eye that I was diagnosed with Central Macular Oedema because I started seeing a heazy round spot in the central field of vision. It did not last, only few days as I went straight away to Moorfield A&E. It was there that they told me to continue with my eye drops. They told me to finish with the antibiotics drops after 2 weeks from the operation but continued with Maxidex and they replaced the antibiotics drops with Acular ( ketorolac ) which I take four times a day.

have you gone for a check up?
