Had my THR 10 months ago and although i have been very happy with the difference it has made to my life i get uncomortable feelings very hard to explain.....i am quite active and i get the feeling things are moving about inside my hip and soreness and some like little stabing feelings....is this normal....ant advices much appreciated...i'm roy
Only six weeks down the line so cannot really help. Would it be worth while seeing if you can get an appointment for an X-ray and talk with the surgeon? It must be horrible to be wondering and concerned all the time, it will probably put your mind at rest or a problem will have been found early
Hi Roy, Just to say you are not on your own. I am 5 months post op and I get strange feelings around the area of my op too. I think my strange feelings are probably muscular. The op was a success and only took 3/4 hour! I've not had any trouble as such but yes definitely I get strange feelings in it.
Hi Roy it may be normal depend on your activities. I'm also 10 months post op at times I get needle like feelings but goes away fast. Little soreness is normal if you work harder than before. Exercise for legs is good isolation workouts.
You may also want to consult with your physician to make sure your hip is fine. Just a precautionary measure.
Best,
Desi
hi maggie thanks for your reply
yes i saw my doctor last week and asked the same question so she has wrote to the consultant to get me an appointment
hi shirley...thanks for your reply
i do think some of it is muscularand maybe the rest is just how it will be.....i foregot to mention in my first message i am 66 years old maybe old bones take more healing...but like you my op went great
hi desi...thanks for your reply
i do go to the gym everyday and work on the leg machines due to me having a bad knee on the other leg but have had to cut down on the hip leg due to the soreness.....also am in the process of making an appointment with the consultant through my doctor....
Hi Roy, I am 57. Glad your op went well. As beachbum says, the strange feelings may be normal depending on our activities. I have still got my new hip on my mind all the time. Its like I can't believe I've got something alien inside me and I've to get my other hip replaced as well!!
hi again shirley
i felt the same way...i couldnt belive i had this mechanical thing in my leg....like a miracle to me as for the previous 6 years i had a limp now no limp at all....well i hope your other one goes ok too...
Thought it was just me in a state of disbelief! Really glad you have no limp at all now. I have owing to my right hip dysplasia and the referred pain from it into my right knee. Knee problems were all meant to be gone after left hip was replaced. Wrong. My right leg is still bad. Thanks Roy. I hope my right hip replacement goes well too.
hi shirley
i think i was lucky then because i had terrible pain in all the leg before my op... knee thigh calf right down to my ankle....all that went.....so maybe this is just how its going to be and im worrying about nothing but i will still have the xray....ill post here whatever comes to light and would be interested to hear how you get on too...
take care roy
Hi Roy, Its great to know you got rid of all that pain as a result of the op. I got rid of the pain in my left hip/Knee/leg etc following my left hip replacement. So hopefully it will all be gone with my right hip replacement. Yes see what the xray reveals though hopefully it will reveal nothing. Yes post here if anything comes to light and I will post here with anything too.
