Sepsis

Hi i have been in hospital for 2 weeks with sepsis i am now home 3 weeks and i have had approx 12 anxiety attacks i have been on 6 mil lorazipam a day for 45 years for depression I've just started on Cit 10 mil will they help thanks

Definitely make sure to call your doctor if your anxiety is this high! He can assure you or call you in to maybe give you something extra to take the anxiety edge off, like a clonopin or some sedative. I have not taken anxiety med or depressive meds personally, but have had friends who had and family. Trust yourself and take Benadryl in the meantime, truly is a godsend relaxative. Be sure to take it at your own risk tho (like not before driving, before activities where full mental capacity is needed, etc). I find taking it at night helps me greatly get a good night of sleep which is so beneficial. Chamomile tea is great, but ginger tea is even more of a favorite of mine because it’s so beneficial in so many other ways. Bless, I believe you will be okay with a lot of certainty

Hi Barry you have been through a frightening ordeal and I am sure your anxiety is sky high.l was looking at your medication and wondering why you have been on loraxepam for so long.Long term use of benzos can cause a number of problems eg increased anxiety and depression.Citalopram should help however it will take 6 to 8 weeks to settle down.Side effects at the beginning will settle in a couple of weeks so stick with it.Try to be patient and ask the doctor about tapering off the benzodiazepam.

Good advice Marleen. Benzos are bad news.

Barry I just tried to send you a link to benzodiazepines but it has gone for moderation.

Have u heard of the Ashton manual?

Hi Marleen i haven't had a panic attack for 40 years, after 2 weeks in hospital with sepsis and gallstones removed, the panic attack came back, i hope Cit will work because I'm afraid to go out of the house. Thanks all.
