Sertraline 100mg

Hi my wife is on sertraline 100mg

First 3 weeks was 50mg and then 100mg till now it’s more than 8 weeks now but she is still struggling with anxiety. She was ok in between but she has got her symptoms back again and more severe especially in the evening till she goes to sleep and also she takes half tablet of  Resperidole 1mg before sleeping.

Any suggestions when sertraline will show proper results

She should be getting real close, I started feeling sertraline working for me real good at about my 10th week mark and that was on 50mg. I didn’t move up to a 100 until about my 3rd month! Good luck

She also may consider upping her dose. I also did ok on 50 and then ok on 100 for a bit until I had to go out of town for work and it was obvious the 100 was helping but was not enough. I've been on 150 now close to two months and it has been a game changer for me. I'm still careful about lifestyle stuff like caffeine, getting enough sleep, exercise, meditation, counseling, etc... but at this dose I have felt my old self coming back for the first time in a while. All total I've been taking the medication for about 5 months. I would recommend she keep moving forward and talk to her doc about the 150. My doc said that dose is what she has found to be most therapeutic for anxiety and mild depression. There is light at the end of the tunnel for you and your wife!

Thanks Joe

I m feeling very positive about the medication that it will kick in anytime soon

We r going to see Psychatrist this Wednesday again and gonna ask about the dose and any other medication for heart palpitations

Thanks Ijones,

Hi there

the problem with ssri,s is that one type such as sertaline may not work were another may work great ,and allthough they are supposed to be the same type of meds they all have slight differences

im on sertaline 50mg for anxiety and ocd and im also experiencing some odd side effects ...and allthough my anxiety is ever so slightly better its still there

8 weeks ( in theory ) should be enough time for sertaline to work, however some patients have reported it took 12 weeks or even 24 weeks ... and i also think the dosage has alot to do with it ... some patients may require higher doses ( up to a max 250mg ) were as others may require less

essentially ssri,s like sertaline are re-wiring the brain and this is why anxiety may get worse before it gets better ....also counselling along with ssri treatment has better results than ssri,s alone

taking sertaline in the morning along with breakfast ( or just a peice of toast ) may help with sleep problems ... and even supplementing the sertaline with over the counter meds such as "kalms" may help allthough i would discuss this with your gp first ( or the chemist )

i really hope your wife is feeling better soon, and tell her she,s not alone ... we all understand what she,s going through

          best wishes

Hello welcome to forum,

This is a slow acting med. It really depends on the individual when you begin to feel the affects. I had extreme anxiety while waiting to feel better. I know doesn't make sense but then again I have no knowledge of pharmaceuticals chemical makeup. Its good she is going back to doctor . I always let my doctor know if I have a concern. Tell her that we are here for her.

For me to feel great it took 6 months honestly...Im so sorry she is going through this tell her to hang in there the meds will work and when they do she will feel better then ever. It feels like the end of the world right now for her im sure, on the meds i got way worse before I got way better. Your a great husband for reaching out and helping her through this!

Maniyaar22, first let me just say how wonderful it is that you’re reaching out and being there for her through this. I have severe anxiety and a good, loving support system can get you through some dark times.

Please let your wife know, she’s not alone, even though she may be feeling like it. These forums are a great way to connect and relate to others who are/have suffered. It’s a very long road to recovery and a very gradual change that she will hardly notice but it will come.

I’m glad you have faith in the sertraline. It’s easy to lose with such a slow acting medicine. I would encourage your wife to join you on this forum. It may really help and I’m always willing to talk if she needs.

😊

Thanks everyone for ur reply’s

Support from everyone on this forum is very helpful for me and my wife as we were so much down after her Friday night attack ( was very severe).

So yesterday I decided her to take to Reiki healing sessions. Reiki has done the wonders. Her way of seeing things is more positive now. She had one and half hour seesion during that period she was calm and relax and also she mention that even she was trying herself think bad things she couldn’t think anything. She felt that her worries are going away. This morning we wake up very positive and she has energy to do things

But she still had nightmares which happens every night

May its too early to say about Reiki but after yesterday’s first session she is very energetic

I will keep u guys updated after more sessions of Reiki healing

Your very welcome, please keep us posted and good luck!

You sound like my husband. He’s so supportive it really helps. He has had to work from home for the last 5 weeks as I can’t cope with being alone. I am in my 5th week of 100mg after being on 50mg for only a week. Still having terrible panic anxiety but I know I need to keep going. So I know what your wife is doing through. And how strong she is being. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. It just takes some of us longer to get there. Stay strong. Love and light ❤️

Hi Everyone

I just want to ask u guys that do u guys feel anxiety attack everyday. Some days r different and some days different like some days its low anciety in the evening that it’s manageable and some days become very hard to cope.

Today my wife is feeling severe headache and  hard to speak but she is still working

Some days she becomes very scary, angry, keep on worrying on samething .

She was very happy during the day but after her afternoon sleep she started feeling scared but today is manageable but tomorrow could be different

Thanks for ur response in advance

The first few weeks are horrible, one day your back to feeling like your self and then the next day anxiety hits back. I have come to realize that the more I'm thinking about if or when this med is going to help the more anxiety I would get. I would get headaches also and still do occasionally. I know its hard and seems like its just not going to end but it does get better. She might need to increase eventually but i would speak to doctor first. Does she have anything to help her through the rough times like a valium or ativan, if not she should ask for a prescription. These meds r habit forming so only get a few. Hope this helped. 🐾

Hi Brenda, thanks for ur reply

My wife takes resperidole every night

I have valium as well but I only give her when she is out of control to calm her down but the thing is when she is really out of control nothing works..

When u say out of control do u mean anxiety, if so try to keep her mind busy , hard thing to do but sometimes our brain is our worse enemy.

Yes i meant anxiety

Once a week I do a night shift so Friday was my night shift

In the Friday evening it in her head that night is so long how she is going to survive, how she is going to look after the baby even though her mum is here. It’s just kept on spinning in her head, then anxiety took over, she was trying to escape from home, I took her to drive, didn’t work, gave resperidole then valium nothing work

I was thinking if she goes to sleep then I will go to work but no medication was calming her down

Even if we touch her she was getting scared, even scared from the baby.

She got calmed down when she felt that I made a sick call to work n i m not leaving

She is really having a hard time. I'm not a doctor in any kind of way but has she been checked for post partum depression with anxiety.

Hi

I was on 50mg for 3 weeks then 100mg for 4 weeks, still didn't feel on top of things.  200mg is considered the highest safe dose I believe, wouldn't hurt your wife to consider increasing to 150mg like I did.  My anxiety is manageable now.  I also take 80mg propranolol in the morning to take the edge of any panic attacks that may come on, may be worth enquiring about that too...?

Hi everyone, I would like to give an update about my wife’s condition

As I mentioned, I got her to do some Reiki therapy, After a week of Reiki, she is very much normal, doing all house hold tasks, taking very well care of baby. We are very happy now. Her anxiety is very well under control. I can go to my work more peacefully.  Reiki abd zoloft 100mg both worked her very well. We been out with friends on weekend,  she didn’t have trouble facing and talking with others. We are very happy that we got our life back

Hoping for the good for everyone
