hi folks, been on 200mg of sertraline now for 4 weeks and 5 days now having upped from 150mg my anxiety is still quite high and im feeling very up and down, saw the GP last night and she told me to give it 2 more weeks, iv been on this before but 150mg settled me down after 4 weeks but this time i have been on them for a total of 12 weeks is it worth sticking out the 200mg ?
Hi aaron it’s my 16th week on SERT and 3rd on 200. I am going to give it 6 weeks and see how I feel. My anxiety is improving but my main issue is low mood. I am praying for SERT to work because it’s my 3rd med and at least this one is not making me sleepy and lethargic all the time. Let’s hope you feel more improvements from now. Do you take anything additional for anxiety? x
i do have diazepam but they make me quite sleepy lol not wise when im at work
I know what you mean. I am the same… benzo makes me sleepy with Sert.
im sure we’ll all get there in the end
Hi Aaron, any dose increase will take anywhere from about 5 weeks - 8 weeks to start working efficiently. I have gone from 50 to 100 and will be going to 150 shortly.
May I ask what brand do you take? There’s a lot who dont agree with brand changes. I persoanlly use 1 chemist as they give Lustral for a sertraline prescription. Most pharmacies now days say you need a seperate prescription for Lustral due to “costs”
Also what mg diazepam have you being prescribed? I personally use 2mg as and when needed to take the edge off but it generally speaking doesn’t make me sleepy. I wish it did at times (its 4:20am now and I am still awake have had 2 x 2mg in the last 24 hours and dont like/want to take to many as dont want am addiction)

Everyone’s different but I would of thought after 4 weeks the 200mg should be working. I’m currently on 100mg and although I’m feeling better than 10 days ago when I upped from 50mg, I feel I need more to settle me. It’s only from previous experience, I was on 150mg for years, and functioned fine every day. I’ll need to speak gp again think. Keep going, your soon feel better.
