sertraline and dizziness

hi im 30 year old male and have undiagnosed dizziness/floaty feeling head since sept 13,i have a mri coming up in april

in the last 6 weeks or so i seem to be having some anxiety problems when in confined public places like resturants or the docs waiting area, where i seem to get real dizzy and hot with a sick in throut feeling.

my doc has put me on sertraline 50mg a day,can anyone who also is on this med share their experiance?

i took my first one yesterday at 930 am and within 2 hours i felt even more floaty and spaced out than i did before,my head dont even feel like mine!it took me about 3 hours to fall asleep lastnight and then i wasnt fully asleep, could still hear things in the background?

im due to take my next tablet soon but i am in two minds wheather to stop and not carry on with these?i really dont want to be any more dizzy than i already am

thanks for any info

Take it again, you have to give your body time to get use to it. More then one day at least and then stop it and tell the Dr. Maybe the dosage has to be lowered. Try it one or two more days and then decide.

thanks for the replies,i didnt take any more of the sertiline today,i really didnt like the way it reacted to me

it has taken roughly 24 hours for me to feel back to how i was feeling before i took the first tablet.

i am thinking that 50mg may of been too high of a dose to start with as i could feel the tablet working almost like a high,a quick intense rush of dizziness?

i may try 25mg for a day or 2 and judge the reaction on my previous experience

I seen this post is about a year ago but I was wondering how everything worked out for you and if the dizziness has stopped or continued? I have been feeling dizzy 24/7 and my Doctor gave me 50mg of sertraline. I am only on about day 5 of taking it and not sure if I feel and difference yet. She told me to give it about 6 weeks and if nothing changes to come and see her again. Hopeing to hear back from you.

I would call his office and tell his receptionist what is going on today before taking anty more pills. I am not sure why a "rush" wasn't put on your MRI being you said you have undiagonosed vertigo since Sept. Did anyone check you for High Blood Pressure? That could also give you vertigo or dizziness when your numbers are up. Perhaps change Drs.  It could be something major in the head. Why so long in April for a MRI?  Shouldn't be that long.

Antidepressants take about six weeks to kick in. It is a long haul and you won't notice a difference in 5 days. Perhaps you can call the Dr's office and report on the dizziness. There are so many different pills out there for antidepressant that are available today but you have to communicate this to your Dr before wasting your time of six weeks.

Hi, I have also been put on sertraline 50mg's per day for dizziness and dizziness alone. The neurologist diagnosed me with PPPD. I have been dizzy since January and will try anything to get rid of it. Has anyone had succsess with this treatment? Elizabeth would you always need an MRI for vertogo. I was really concerned for a while that I had jad a mini stroke, but no one else seems to be.
