Hi everyone. I just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant and currently taking 50mg of sertraline. Looking for advice from ladies who have remained on sertraline for the duration of pregnancy. Please don't post anything that might scare me, I am just looking for positive support. Thanks!
hi lauren, i'm male, but before you shout "go away!!!" i had a read of the leaflet which comes in the sertraline box, and it says the important thing to do is speak to your doctor, which of course makes a lot of sense. so perhaps you should just have a chat with your doctor to be on the safe side, and for your peace of mind. there's certainly no reasonto worry because, even if the doctor said maybe sertraline might not be suitable during pregnancy (which the doctor might not say at all anyway...) but if they did, they might simply tell you to switch to a different med to be on the safe side. there's lots of options out there for you so no need to worry.
ps. i would think certainly a positive is, you are just taking 50mg of sertraline, so that's a plus. just the normal standard dose and not a really high dose. maybe that's what the doctor will say also.
ok hope things work out well for you, best of luck
Thank you I know that sertraline is one of the few approved by doctors during pregnancy so that is good so far. Thanks for your input! I really appreciate it!
okay, then you need to have a serious chat with your obgyn
Hi Lauren I know this is a different drug but kinda the same class I took Paxil cr while I was pregnant and had a perfectly healthy baby girl🙂
hi again lauren, do chat to your doctor rather than just get advice on the internet because obviously they have a lot of experience in these matters and will put that at such a high priority for you and baby.
you can expect lots of good, professional, positive help along the way by keeping in touch with your doctor. there are endless options and help for you if you work with them, no need for worry - it's really good peace of mind for yourself by keeping close tabs with your doctor and/or other professionals whose job is to be of service, and to be there along the way, so you can feel much more confident and at ease along your journey.
Oh absolutely I am in contact with both my doctor and midwife. I was more or less looking for advice on how people felt while they were on it during pregnancy. I was looking for that reassurance just for support, not as medical advice. Just wondering how other women handled being pregnant while medicated, and if it helped them
ah ok lauren, sorry about the confusion, hopefully then some others will show up here and can give you some advice from their own experiences. wishing you the best
Thanks again for replying...I appreciate you taking the time! I hope no one got the wrong impression about what I was asking...hopefully I cleared it up!
Thank you Pam!
this is from Zoloft

Women who are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or who are breastfeeding should not take ZOLOFT without consulting their physician.

As I have already stated, I have already consulted my doctor. I am looking for supportive people who have remained on sertraline during pregnancy to offer any advice on their personal experience. I also breastfed and used sertraline (on the advice of my physician who prescribed it for me) during a diagnosis of Postpartum Anxiety so I am already aware of this warning.
Then you are aware an you have discussed it with your physician. I hope you have a beautiful pregnancy and a healthy baby.
hugs
hi again lauren,
encouraging little snippet from the internet:

Most studies have not found that women taking sertraline during pregnancy are more likely to have a baby with a birth defect than women not taking sertraline. Overall, the available information does not suggest that sertraline increases the risk for birth defects
