Sertraline dose increase side effect help

Hi this is my first post on here so hopefully I'm doing this right. I've suffered from anxiety attacks since having my first son 12 years a go. They were so bad at times I couldn't leave the house and even at home I some times had to phone my husband to come home from work. I've tried several medications over the years and they all worked until I came off them. About 5 years a go I was put on 50mg of sertraline a day the side effects were horrendous to start with I had bad headaches, increased anxiety, was sick every morning and totally lost my appetite. I carried on with them tho and after a week or so they went and I started to feel better. Last year I got my first job ever and was doing so well until recently, I got sent home from work poorly in agony with tooth ache and had to walk home I ended up having a panic attack and since then I seem to be having them more frequent again. I've been to my doctor and he suggested trying therapy again or upping my dosage. I have my first session with the poises team tomorrow but I'm just wondering if this doesn't help and I have to go down the route of upping my dose will I end up with the awful side effects again? Has anyone had a dose increase years down the line? Thank you in advance for any replies

Hi Emma,

I am also new to this and this is m first post....

i got put on sertraline 50mg 3 years ago and just been upped to 100 mg dont know if this helps but i dont have any side effects, everyone is different though

Hi that helps massively. Did you have any side effects when you first started taking the 50mg? I'm willing to try them regardless if the therapy doesn't help as I don't want to be back at square one. I'm just not sure how understanding my work would be if I had to have time off due to side effects. Also I have a 2 year old to look after and don't want to end up laid up unable to look after him properly

aww im glad that helped

No I have never had any side effects and to be honest im so happy about that as i have a 3 year old to look after so i completely get where youre coming from, its awful and makes you constantly worry. I only havce good things to say about sertraline its been a lifesaver for me!

also i had therapy (mine was cbt) but that didnt do anything for me
