Hi there guys.......
I wanted to add a post on here for all our experiences so we can give advice to the newbies on sertraline. We all know what is involved when you go on to start these tablets and would like to help others as people have helped me alot through it all. This site has helped me in so many ways and is full of genuinely nice people, so i thank you all for that.
What ever your experiences with it i would love to hear your storys and dont forget there will be people just starting these tablets so we are not here to scare them off on there road to recovery.
For those that are new im on 6weeks of 50mg and its starting to kick in its an amazing feeling ive been longing for. Obviously there was a few slight side effects like,
The runs for a few days, felt sick for a few days, tiredness that went after 5 weeks belive it or not, a few headaches but nothing i couldnt manage on my own. Then there is that phase that you feel the tablet does absolutely nothing as i felt like this for 5 weeks and 4 days. But for the last 4 days im feeling amazing you wouldnt belive how much this little white tablet has changed my person. I urge you to stick to a dose for 8 weeks then if no change you can always talk with a doctor to up the dose.
I would love to hear your storys. Plus any questions someone can answer for you, live well and good luck to all
hi scott,
great to hear that you're doing well, i am the same, sertraline has changed my life, it's been a long 10 months of being on the meds, with ups and downs along the way. i started my journey on 50mg after 4 weeks i was increased to 75mg and then 2 weeks later,100mg, i stayed on this dosage for 8 weeks and i had alot of good days but still mostly down days and very changeable from one minute to the next. i went back to my doctor and she suggested i went onto 150mg, 2 weeks after being on 150mg i noticed a huge change in myself and my old self seems to be returning as the days go by. it's a real eye opener to know that 10 months ago i was in a place that was dark, miserable and terriifying for me and i hated waking up every day not knowing what mood i was going to be in and wether i was going to have a good day or bad day, this medication has sorted me out and i've found the right dosage for me. even though i'm feeling loads better, i know that i will still have blips, it's not totally fool proof so i'm allowing for that in the coming weeks, but for those that aren't sure or just scared to death of taking them, don't be scared, we've all been through this, sertraline will help you, i suffer from acute depression, anxiety and paranoid/intrusive thought processes. before my doctor prescribed me sertraline, i had accepted the fact that i was going to be like that forever and i would never get better as i was so bad. how wrong i was. my life is changing for the better every day, me and my partner are getting on so much better when before i feared he would leave me as every single day we fell out in a big way and sometimes didn't speak for days! we are now planning to have our first child together so u can change you're life and you can change your future, you just have to get through the initial first weeks as there are side effects as scott8888 has described, so good luck everyone, any questions just give us a shout xxx :-)
I am just finished week 4 on sertraline I feel wired all the time, sweat at night, feel numb like I can't cry and a churning tummy. I want to get bettter and I want to persevere. Some people are saying sleep never gets back to normal on these???
I don't want to increase my dose but is all this normal and does it go away?
Trust me your sleep will come back, i take my tablet at 3pm or 4pm everyday. I still feel wired sometimes like a zoned out feeling but thats normally because im tired. Stomach churning can be a few things unrelated to the tablet, food intolerence, anxiety, ibs, stress or worry ect ect. I got the knotted stomach churning and still do but myn is what i eat and no longer the anxiety. Sweating at night is common and i get it slightly still but its getting alot better. Please dont let people scare you when they say bad things as it puts you into panic and you think it will be the same for you but each and everyone of us are different. I had very bad tinnitus from these tablets for 6 weeks 24/7 and thats died down alot now but still get it a little but nothing bothersome.
