sertraline for 7 weeks

Been on sertraline for 7 weeks - 5 weeks on 50mgper day and 2 weeks on 100mg per day. Some days not too bad but anxiety is still there especially when I wake up. Will this get better ?

Hi, yes it's still early days on your upped dosage so it needs to stabilise in your system. I would give it another 2-4 weeks for the increased dose to kick in. Donu have any side effects from upping the dose apart from the anxiety? X

No not really. Just wish anxiety about everything, which previously no doubt I wouldn't have worried about to such an extent, would go.

I would think in the next week or 2 those anxious thoughts and moments will ease. Give it time and just try and stay positive. When u was on 50 mg for 5 mg did the anxiety ease abit or is that why u wasn't to 100mg ? X

Did ease a bit but then back with a vengeance.

Yeh I would say it's just starting to kick in, and within the next week or so it will ease. Are you on any other medication? Have you tried rescue remedy just to take on your anxious days. I found it very helpful when I was suffering from the high anxiety while the sert kicked in. Do u work or have any hobbies as I learnt to knit and it really helped with the anxiety x

No other medication - can knit maybe try that again. What's rescue remedy ?

It's a herbal calming solution that u can get in a spray or drops. U just put it on your tounge and really calms u from being anxious.mu can get it in any supermarket or chemist and it's about £4. Have a look online at the reviews, it really is good. U can take it alongside sertraline as it's all natural and even kids and pets can use it. I use it on my dogs when it's firework night and new yr just to calm them down. X

I think it will get better, as sometimes the changes can take a week or two to take effect. I have been on 200mg for a little while and I have not found it's helping me, so I think I will be changing onto something different. Hope all goes well for you.

Thank you - hope you do well also.

Hi Janet,

I started on 50mg Sertraline in October last, & the dose was increased to 100mg about 3 weeks ago now. When I wake in the morning I am very anxious & this lasts on and off till evening. Not sure if anxiety is a side effect or not. I also have night sweats & dry mouth & tongue occasionally.

the consensus of opinion is that I was on a low dose that clearly wasn't working, but hopefully will start to kick in soon now that I'm on a higher dose.

Hi Mark,

did you start on a low dose of Sertraline that was gradually increased? When I saw my GP last week she seemed reluctant to increase my dose. I'm currently on 100mg for the past 3 weeks.

Hi. I started on 50mg, then 100mg and then 200mg. To be honest I don't really feel much better. I am back at the doctors on the 13th, and I think he will put me on something else, along with long term counsilling. Sometimes you do have to push the doctors, it's a case of you telling them what you want. All the best.

Thank you Mark,

I don't think my GP has much experience of patients with Depression / anxiety. She's lovely, just very young & I got the feeling she's not sure what to do with my meds. I'm back to the docs again tomorrow, so I'll see what she thinks.

take care Mark, hope you feel better soon.
