I need some advice. I'm just starting my third week on Sertraline which I've been prescribed for bad depression and anxiety. But I feel worse than ever. Still low and anxious. But the worst thing for the last few days have had really bad stomach pains and unable to eat..will this pass? Any advice helpful.
Hi Gary, I’m on my third week too and I feel exactly the same!! My doctor just told me to stick with it and ill feel the benefits next week!
I hope you're right. It's been an awful couple of weeks. I thought I was done with the nausea and sickness in week 1. Makes you wonder if you're doing the right thing. Good luck to you.
Hi, it does take time to get used to the medication. I lowered my initial dose to 25mg as 50mg made me feel awful. Over the years I steadily increased this but I am happy to say I’m now reducing down. I am going through some strange symptoms with buzzing/zapping in my head but otherwise I feel great. Stick with it but if you feel bad talk to your doctor about taking a lower dose. It does work so please don’t be out off 😊
Hi gary feel the same wish it would do one wot strenght you on im on 150 but feel like not helping making me worse
Hi Gary, just wanted to reassure you that what you're experiencing is very common. I had similar issues, & had real trouble going from 25mg to 50mg. See if your doctor will prescribe some anti anxiety meds to help you in the short term. Keep strong, you will get there.
Hi Jaynsie, I’m new to Sertraline but that’s exactly what I’ve done with my initial dose..wasn’t sure if it was the right thing to do but starting on 50 was awful...good to hear your feeling great!! I’ve had experience with withdrawal, took me 7 months to wean off Duloxetine...reduce slowly 😊
Hi Gary...I had a similar post a couple of weeks ago, it is awful..but as the others have said, and the advice I was given was expect to feel worse before feeling better..hope you feel much better soon😊
Thanks Lawrence . I really want to feel better. I think I'm going to have more time off work..which then will make it harder to return. I'm just so lethargic. All I do is stare into space.
Hi Lorraine . I'm on 50mg.
Thank you This is awful . I'm quite broken at the moment.
Same here gary its so hard we have just got to stay strong
I agree, I'm desperate to go back to work, but I just wouldn't be able to yet. We can do it.
Hi Gary,
The side effects are awful but it’s worth it to stick it out to feel better soon!
The hardest for me was from 25 to 50.
Go slowly with only 25mg increases at a time. I stayed at 50 for 6 weeks before increasing. Then was at 75 x 2 weeks and now I’m at 100mg for 4 days.
Still having mild symptoms but generally progressing.
Hang in there, it takes 6-8 weeks to experience good effects. Some say at 3 months or more they feel so much better.
Be patient, you’ll see! And like some say add other meds to counter the side effects if you need to until sertraline is effective.
The side effects are awful but I promise you as you continue and find your dose it will ease up and eventually go away all together. Unfortunately we suffer before we feel better with this medication.
Hi, know this post is a few days old. I'm on 3 weeks 2 days and starting to feel more human a little bit. Felt so so bad for weeks now but finally and hopefully seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Stick with it, the pain etc will subside x
HI Laura..another week as almost passed and i'm certainly feeling better than i did. The side affects have more or less worn off! Finding it quite difficult at work mind..but maybe now feel some progress! Good luck to you! x
HI Tammy..certainly feel better than i did!
So glad to hear it. I'm exactly the same, work is the hardest place especially in the mornings! But I have faith that it will pass. Good luck to you too x
