Hi there, new here.. I wanted to ask some advice, I have suffered with Cptsd for years and taking mirtazapine 30mg for the last 2 years however I had quite a bad relapse of ptsd symptoms which was quite scary, I saw a mh nurse and he recommended sertraline which I was reluctant to take and refer me for trauma focused CBT which I’m waiting for.
I started sertraline 4 weeks ago on 25mg for 1 week then increased to 50mg so I’ve been on 50mg for about 3 weeks. For the last couple of weeks I’ve had pain around my neck and shoulders which I’ve never had before, I thought maybe I had slept funny, I don’t have all the other symptoms for seratonin syndrome apart from some confusion and I do feel colder than normal. I decided last night to stop taking sertraline and stay on mirtazapine and today the pain isn’t anywhere near as bad. I managed to speak to a locum doctor this morning and he said to stop taking sertraline, my worry is what if I get withdrawals, he said I won’t but I don’t want to get worse mentally.. I have a headache today which could be related.
My thoughts are what if the pain in my body isn’t the meds and I stop them and they could have been good for me (hypervigilence / panic / intrusive and irrational thoughts and fears)
Does anyone know much about these side affects of taking 2 types of ssri’s? I’m curious to see if anyone else has had the same problem.
Thank you
