Im a it mad to be honest because ive just been reading up on what side affects you can get from taking sertraline. Things like kidney stones. Bleeding in the stomach. Etc. My god. If id have known that when i started on them i would never have took them. Doctor told me they were safe. And that i mite get a head ache or have trouble sleeping but thats it. If theres even the slightest chance that one of these nasty side affects my occur is it worth taking sertraline? Im starting to wonder. Personally i wish i had never started taking them because now im worrying about long term affects. NEVER AGAIN will i put any drugs in my body again other than head ache tablets.
Hi Richard... I feel for you. I was put on sertaline about 9 months ago for anxiety and depression. The side effects were awful. I felt numb. I freaked myself out looking in the mirror because I didn't recognise myself. My husband had to wake me in the middle of the night because I was so cold he had to wrap himself around me to warm me up it was very frightening. My anxiety got worse.. I couldnot leave the house. I was only on sertaline for 1 week. I phoned my doctor and he changed me to fluoxetine 20 mg and at night quetiapine 25mg. I stopped taking sertaline and the next day all of the side effects had gone. Within about 2 months my life got so much better. The fog had lifted and I have not looked back since.
If sertaline is making you feel like this you don't have to take it. There are other options. A good friend of mine has been on sertaline for 3 years and they work great for her. She didn't have any if the horrible side effects I had. So what works for one person may not work for another.
I hope this helps you Richard and I hope you get the right medicine for you.
Don't give up.. you just need to keep trying.
Im coming off it at the moment. My symptoms are withdrawl symptoms. I just hope they dont last much longer. Im trying to study for a work related exam and im struggling at the minute because my head keeps throbbing.
Just come back from the doctor. He said my symptoms are withdrawl symptoms and i should start back on the tablets. 50mg and just take obe every other day for a month. And then 2 a week for another month. Does this sound any good to any of you?
