Sertraline

Hi fellow sufferers and survivors. I've been taking 50mg of Sertraline for almost two months now. The worst side effect for me is the tiredness caused by sleep disturbance. It starts with Restless leg syndrome and I can be awake for most of the night. I was thinking of asking Michael Flatley for a part in Riverdance. My GP px 10mg Temazepam to help, but it only lessens the RLS. I was diagnosed with depression in 2005 and given Citalopram 20mg, which I took for two years. I never felt it was doing me any good, but when I came off it I gradually just crashed again. I finally succeeded in coming off it this year and managed for three months before hitting rock bottom again in september. I would say that half my time I am still very low and the rest of my time I just feel basically ok. I see people around me enjoying life and I can't share their joy. The root of my depression is my occupation as a police officer and I know I have to make changes to move forward. Are there any police type people out there suffering too, or anyone whose occupation has been a trigger?

Hey.

It was my job that finally pushed me over the edge. Was on some other tablets for a few months then came off of those onto 50mg Sertraline. I was then taken off of those and something happened in my life which sent me back to the start so now I'm back on the 100mg tablets. I'm now seeing a therapist once a fortnight really helps me to look at things a little different. I changed my job and finding life so much better. One person in my old job was what started my problems, but thankfully, his life now sucks and I can stand back and smile for what he has done to my life!!

I really don't think I could cope with your job as a policeman, way to much stress!

I had restless legs on occasion and shakes but all is well now, well except a lower sex drive.

I feel low with no get-up-and-go but that is something I need get out of myself and not think the tablets will help. Once I get out of that state of mind I gradually come 'up' and start to feel better with myself which is like a snowball effect, I then do more as I feel better.

Anyways, let's hope the tablets help you like they have me!

Take care!

Sorry to hear about your situation. I used to work with kids with behavioural problems, and it was then that I started to get anxiety problems. I couldn't be a police officer - way too much stress. I do hope you feel better soon.
