I have been prescribed 50mg Setraline per day, and been taking for about 7 weeks - saw GP after a months - only side effect at that stage was sweats which have now reduced and are Ok. The effect as far as the antidepressant has been benefical, it has helped my mood swings and I feel far more an even keel so that is good.
However, I have been suffering for the last 10 days with a gurgling tummy, loose stools, flatulence and at times been nauseus. Reading more into these, it does appear that these can be side effects od Setraline.
I have not been back to my GP yet, clearly I want to maintain the positive aspect - do these side effects pass - clearly they might be related to something totally different ?
Can you change to another antedepressant having taken Setraline for seven weeks .
Any experiences - thoughts would be appreciated
Thanks
Ian
hello ian, glad to hear the sertraline appears to be helping you. i have been on 150mg for a year now so i’m talking from experience. as far as the side affects go, they vary between people obviously. you’re still in the earlier stages of taking sertraline so it’s highly possible that those are side affects from the medication. plus the medication should really be kicking in now. i suffered pretty badly with nausea, i can tell you that it does pass eventually (if it is side affects of course.) if you can get through the couple weeks of side affects then you’ll be fine, it’s not fun but it does pass and it’s worth while pushing through. i wouldn’t recommend changing yet, though it is worth talking to your gp about these problems. i hope this helped, i wish you luck on your journey
Hi Katie - Many thanks for your reply - your experiences are most helpful - I appreciate your sharing them with me.
Kind regards
Ian
