i went to my doctor and have been on setraline 8 weeks and i said i dont really feel any different on them and he is giving me another 2 weeks as he said it takes people a bit longer to feel the effects. so if no change he will change my medication, is there anyone out there who has taken a bit to effect them!
I started on 50mg and worked up to 200mg over about 3 months and they now work for me.

Yes it important to give things a chance see how you feel after your allotted weeks on Setraline and see how you go. It does take time for some medications to get into the system. Best of luck. Any awful side effects of course report them. Hope you get on with them though.
Yes, Vivienne, I was on sertraline and didn't get any benefit until I got to 200mg.
You haven't mentioned what dose you're on. Your doctor is right, but if you're only on 50mg, ask him to up the dose before trying a different medication Love Tess
Hi Vivienne....lovely name....same as MY daughter. I've been on a high dose of Sertraline for almost 8 weeks. I still have low mood/little motivation. I lost my only brother last year, then had a life threatening illness myself in August. Felt quite good by November but had big row with my daughter....we didn't speak until beginning of March. All my stress came out again. Eight weeks on I am a lot better. They say if sleep and appetite improve then the meds are starting to work for you, and low mood is often the last symptom to lift. My doc says they can sometimes take 3 months to work properly. Which dose are you on? Please keep in touch. Iris x

Yes appetite was better first sleep is ok but then again I have never been a good sleeper motivation and eventually my mood got better,
I have good and bads days but thats how I look at it not that Im going to another breakdown

Thanks Lil xx. I'm hoping for that too. It sounds daft but I'm bored with having no motivation, but can't be bothered to do much about it!!! I'd hate to have to change meds!
I know the feeling you wake every morning hoping thats the day you will feel better

yes i got a fast heartbeat at first but ok now, going toilet for poo! and still in a morning that hasnt died down yet ha xx

So sorry you have had upset stomach in the morning and doing more poo!!! Some medications do this. Drink plenty while it is having this effect and again after the allotted time you are expected to try this report your symptoms to your GP. I am on Citralapam not for depression but after some family upset I just could not function. I am on 10 mg so low dose. Take care and hope this symptom clears up soon for you Vivienne76607

That is quite a jump in small doses seems your GP knows what they are doing by the times you have been upped a dose looks like it may take time for your system to settle. Now you are on 150mg It is all going to take time by the sound of it. It has been 8 weeks on different doses. I would keep on with them and give your system a chance to get used to them usually takes a month or so then you can tell what your like on them. See how you feel.
