hi I’m a 22 year old Male, 16 stone and been very inactive for 3 years because of agoraphobia, I barely leave my bed.. anyways I’ve had anxiety and panic attacks for years but not very often, usually I’m ok at home unless something distressing happens or I have a appointment with the doctor or something.. but the last 2 weeks I’ve been in hospital twice, both times they said ecg and blood are normal. I’m scared incase I have some heart condition that isn’t getting found by ecg and bloods.. had countless ecgs the last 2 weeks and 5 vials on bloods in 2 weeks given.. here are my symptoms: every night I wake up with something like a panic attack.. sometimes several times a night.. I usually sleep 10 hours without interruptions apart from feeding my cat at night.. but every morning i have woke up with sticky armpits and sticky palms.. inability to go back sleep, palpitations, sometimes shivering and breathlessness.. but the breathlessness doesn’t really make me breathe faster it just makes me aware of my breathing and makes me feel like I’m struggling for air.. palpitations and breathlessness are the 2 most frightening.. more breathless after food because im scared about feeling nauseous from the food.. and scared because I’m not eating half of what i normally would and I must say when I’m anxious I used to eat chocolate but now I’m just sick to my stomach.. my attack of whatever it is this morning causes my heart to go upto 150bpm when I woke up.. is this even possible? weird muscle twitches anywhere on my body, mainly chest legs and abdomen but had it in my arms too, sometimes it feels like a vibration rather then a twitch.. I’ve had a warm almost burning in chest arms legs mainly during a attack.. been feeling my pulse inn my head throat and stomach.. dry mouth and bad taste in mouth.. I’ve been struggling to eat, for the past week, pretty much have a couple pieces of toast and some flavourless crisps/chips everyday and sometimes abit of fruit.. I’m scared about leaving my bed because of making palps and breathing worse.. when I’m relaxed my heart rate goes between 65-80bpm which concerns me because it changes from minute to minute.. im only relaxed when I’ve been awake for like 16 hours of stress and my bodies that drained I cant focus on the anxiety or health condition causing this.. after eating small amounts of food my heart goes up from 70-80 to around 100bpm maybe more.. and when I’m lying down my heart rate is around 70-80 and if I sit up it raises to around 90bpm and stays high until I lie down again.. is any of this normal? has any1 experienced all or most of these symptoms? has anyone had continuous anxiety all day every day with panic attacks in morning and throughout the day..? constant symptoms all day everyday? symptoms worse at certain times, but never completely fade away.?
yes Josh, your symptoms sound like classic anxiety and panic symptoms. And yes it’s very possible for your heart rate to go up that high. It’s not going to hurt you. it’s caused by the adrenaline that is released. This is very common with millions of people who suffer from anxiety. Mine started in my 20s and I had all of your symptoms. It was terrifying. But I want you to know that I am in my 50s now and still here! Those symptoms are not going to hurt you but I know how weird and scary they can’t feel. They can come and go as they please as there is no order to when anxiety happens or when panic happens it’s pretty much random. However, there is usually an underlying reason for this. There’s something that is causing you anxiety in your life. That is why you’re getting the symptoms.
it would be really helpful if there was a way you could speak with a counselor who deals with anxiety. They can help you try and manage all of this. It’s difficult to do alone. Proper breathing for anxiety is one of the main key things to do to bring down the heart rate and the symptoms. can find so many of these breathing meditations on YouTube. as well as meditations for general anxiety. It’s all in what you tell your mind. I do hope you get some support for this and take care of yourself.
Hi Josh,im 28 years old and suffering from anxiey for years.yea im having all the symptoms you mentioned.i cant eat and i have all the symptoms about my heart.im staying all day in my bed.yea exactly im having symptoms all days for 4 days.
I agree with the other posters. However I will add that you must be physically very unfit too which will make your heart pound on exertion. If you don’t use it you lose it so if you carry on with this unhealthy sedentary lifestyle then you could end up with heart disease eventually.
It seems clear you need to tackle your anxiety issues first so going on meds and seeing a therapist might be able to help you. That is unless you intend spending the rest of your life in bed? The longer you leave the harder it will be to resume a more normal lifestyle.
