severe anxiety / health anxiety

I’ve suffered with severe anxiety and health anxiety for 7 years now. I have been to the doctor countless times. They checked my heart, lungs, blood work, brain MRI and its all normal. When I’m anxious my blood pressure spikes really high. I feel weak in my arms and legs, tight chest, sharp pain, dizziness, light headed and short of breath constantly. I have my own o2 moniter and blood pressure moniter i carry with me all the time. I feel this way every single day at some point or another. I just got home from work and its really bad tonight. Is there anyone else that deals with the same or close to this???

Hello! I suffer with health anxiety and have similar symptoms to you. I’ve had it on and off for 3 years.

I get the light headed feeling faint and breathless a lot and the worst bit is how much it plays into the anxiety cycle isn’t it?

Have you spoken to your doctors at all about the anxiety? I did this week and have just started taking some medication hoping it helps.
I find night time the worst before bed and struggle to sleep which I’ve no doubt makes it worse.

I have also started doing deep breathing for 3 minutes using a YouTube video twice a day or anytime I need it.

And I really reccomend the woebot app it’s pocket cbt if you can do it I find it helps.

Please message me if you want a chat, I think the worst bit is feeling alone in this

I have dealt with many physical symptoms of Hesketh anxiety they’ve ranged from dizziness , spaced out, eye twitching, sweating, body avhes , stabbing pains, IBS issues , headaches and the last goes on to be honest!

it’s amazing what anxiety can do to the body. the more you think about the symptoms the worse they get. its a never ending cycle

I then convince myself I have certain illness (always some sort of cancer) and I will then think I’ve got them symptoms. Google is the worst thing to d

like you’ve I’ve had numerous tests etc but I always think they’re wrong

my anxiety has got better, but I still get times where it’s really bad

I just wanted you to know you’re not alone. its such an awful thing to go through

hello my friend,

you pretty much described the last year of my life to perfection. I’m currently on my second go with an ssri. the first was citalopram, now I’m giving sertraline a run. Saturday will make 2 weeks. it’s safe to say I haven’t seen any benefit from it yet. but I have seen some light at the end of the tunnel from time to time throughout the last year. going to stick with the med and give it a chance to work. I’m happy to discuss further with you anytime

best wishes

I started sertraline yesterday and I don’t know if it’s just my brain but I already feel better.

I don’t imagine it can work this quickly but already I am far less anxious.

I have read it can take 8 weeks plus to notice and often hear it gets worse before it gets better.

Glad to know others are in the same boat!
