severe anxiety

Constant anxiety attacks, seeing the doctor every 2wks and also Psycologist but Sunday my attack lasted over 2 hours and an ambulance had to be called. Been referred to a psychiatrist and I don't mind admitting I M absolutely sh*tting myself, has anyone had any experience with any of this.. Up until 27th August things were fine then I had an attack at work and it's been downhill since then... HELP sad feeling defeated xx

Aw bless you... It can come on quite suddenly, but if you look back, it was probably building for a while before that, gradually, but you were able to ignore it and deal with it. Something tipped you over the edge and the panics started. They are awful, but not harmful and you will get better with therapy,  i wish you luck, stay strong x

I haven't had an attack which lasted that long.but when you have an attack the more you worry what's going on the longer it last. When I do start to feel an attack I sit down take long deep breaths in and slowly release that breath I do this for about five minutes. Sip water inbetween just small sips. The breathing should relax you or calm you down. Don't drink caffeine related drinks get decafe. This helps a lot try and stay away from chocolate. Good luck I hope this helps😊

Hello Karen.  I am so sorry you have been through so much.  Bless you.  I do hope you get the help you need.  Keep posting here and let us know how you get on.

I've been referred previous to phychiatrist as an outpatient and they are absolutely brilliant.

They are specialists in mental health conditions and will totally understand anything you tell them, let your phychiatrist ask the questions and be totally open.

They will review your medication and decide what is best for you or just to continue as is.

They will answer any questions or concerns you have, they are not the "men in white coats", in fact they are just ordinary people.

Is there anything your particularly sh*tting yourself over as I can no doubt put your mind more at ease.
