I had surgery on July12, The surgery went well,but I started having some back pain. I thought I would just take some medicine and I would be fine. The back in the middle/upper part of my back hurts like H***!!!! along with right shoulder pain. Has anyone else experience this excruciating pain? If so what if anything has helped you?

The nurse who did my pre op had been through laparoscopic cholecystectomy and said her back pain was so bad afterwards she thought they'd broken her shoulder! Its due to the gas they pump in during surgery. Make sure you take your pain relief as instructed. Apparently it helps to raise the foot of your bed. Also try to move round as much as possible as this helps get rid of the gas. It is temporary and should improve after a day or two.
If it is from the gas they pump in, when i had my gb removed last week they recommended peppermint oil/ capsules as being excellent for this pain.
