Hi,
I'm going through a severe flare up of IBS. Tummy cramps, diahrrea, wind about 3-4 hours after I eat anything.I have to rush to the loo and sit there for at least an hour in pain. I had a small supper and then at 3am had to rush to the loo and been up since.I do suffer with bad anxiety but now this flare up of 5-6 days has taken over my life and I'm scared to go anywhere because I'II need to run to a toilet. I don't take anything for it although I've suffered for many years. Does anyone have any ideas to help me please.
Ask your doctor for an antispasmodic and keep a food diary. Look out for common culprits like dairy, gluten, and fructose. Perhaps avoid gassy foods like cabbage, brussels sprouts and broccoli. Greasy, fried and spicy foods as well as processed meals can also cause symptoms.
You may need to try a number of antispasmodics to find one that works for you.
Thanks for that info. I got some peppermint oil capsules and will see if they work at all. I feel so awful.
I felt ghastly last year for three months and the lack of diagnosis made it all much worse with added panic and anxiety. Everything got much better after finding out I had IBS. Antispasmodics and painkillers helped and I noticed when I am not stressed, I barely have pain.
Drink lots of water. I have anxiety and this does not help so try to reduce your stress. I know easier said than done.
Stress can couse ibs symptoms as well. Find out which food is bad for you, and avoid them.
I think many here have the same symptoms. I used to get the bus which took one hour and one of the scariest journeys and often used to plan what would happen if I did not make it I needed time. It is a horrible thought process but needs to be done.
I drink more water and exercise more
Try Buscopan works for me.
