Hello I'm new to this so not really sure how it works but I'm 17 and have been fighting anxiety depression panick disorder and OCD for about 2 years now, I've been to the doctors multiple times for breathlessness and dizzyness but as soon as they check my record they just put it down to anxiety it's ruining my life I'm scared to get out of bed, talk, be alone and go out invade I have an asthma attack I had an ECG yesterday and been put forward for blood tests on Monday I requested an asthma test although they refused and said by listening to my chest I have 'clear airways' can anyone recommend anything to put my mind at ease over breathing problems??
Thankyou
x
I had issues that started my panic attacks and I could have sworn my body wasn't breathing unless I made it breathe but it was just my anxiety and now I'm taking a medication for it and it's helping a little more each day. Take it one step at a time. As for the doctor's, if you feel they don't listen to you her a second opinion.

Sorry you are having problems with Depression and Anxiety, you Doctor is folow the el trodden pathway to make sure you are physically healthy and is confirming your concerns are caused by Anxiety.
I would suggest taking Breathing Exercises. Breath steady in through your nose, then out through your mouth, do not gulp the air gently expel it through your lips
If you are feeling Anxious, try Relaxation Technique Mindfulness, you will be able to find an explanation on the Internet or on this site. This may help you.calm yourself.
One thing yo need to nderstand when you get your results and if they are all clear trust them, your GP has your interests at heart, confind in Him

Your doctor telling you should put your mind at ease. If there was a chance of an issue the doctor would have given further testing. A doctor would not refuse a potential problem because if you did end up with that problem they would potentially get a medical malpractice lawsuit and could lose their license. No doctor will ignores potential risk by telling you they’re sure you don’t have something if there was a chance you did.
Your symptoms are common to anxiety. I’ve spent thousands of dollars chasing more answers because it’s so hard to believe your mind can cause these physical symptoms. I’ve had an mri, cat scans, blood work, heart monitors, ekgs, etc etc trying to figure out every pain and problem I experience. It’s so hard to think “when is this a real problem and when is it just anxiety?” I don’t know how to put your mind at ease because I know how much of a task that is for even myself. I can, however, tell you that those are common anxiety symptoms and a doctor should be able to rule out any immediate threat. Don’t be afraid to go out because regardless of what happens no decent human is going to sit there and allow something bad to happen to you without helping.
Hi Lois
Well I've good news for you - I'm 57 and guess what? I started having the same symptoms you have
about your age. After forty years I still get them on and off - and I'm still alive. Nothing at all will happen to you except that rotten feeling - know that it can't kill you - The best thing to do is to grit your teeth and fight it with everything you've got. I had times when I couldn't get out of bed - but I had to go to work and to college - and even though I'd be sick as a dog I kept going - and you can too. Nothing will happen to you - not a damn thing so keep going and enjoy your young life. The great part of this
(anxiety) is made up by the most powerful organ in your body bar none - your mind. It mightn't seem like a consolation but no matter how much you gasp for breath or your heart races, nothing will happen to you except "the bad feeling" because there's no underlying physical cause / illness. It doesn't matter if you a believer or not - but try Anthony De Mello's book (also on YouTUbe) "Awareness' - and Eckhart Tolle's "Power of Now" (he talks about the pain body a lot).
Keep going,
Ed.
Hi danielddz,
I saw in your comments that you got an MRI. Did you have any neurological symptoms. I have neurological symptoms like tongling, numbness, vibrating body parts, headaches etc. My Mri of head and cspine are clear. But i still get these symptoms. Its hard to believe anxiety cause these symptoms when i am not stressed or thinking about anything.
Yeah, I’ve had tingling, numbness, shaking, headaches. I also had a few cat scans. It’s always hard to believe my problems are just anxiety but so far doctors have told me that’s what it is. Seems like a lot of people have similar problems and have been told it’s anxiety as well. I’m a big hypochondriac but I know anxiety can cause pains and issues for no reason at all. Now it’s the physical issues that usually send me into the mental anxiety. It’s a vicious cycle.
I am a hypochondriac too. We are sailing the same boat. My upper lip is numb. I am stil quite young. My future now looks bleak with all these. With work commitments and wedding near by.
My physical issues have done the same thing to me. Spiraling me I to this horrible hypochondria and anxiety that I am working every day to get through. It's so nice to know that other people experience the same things.
Yet here we are. Every day is a new day not yet ruined. Anxiety does so much to us but that comes from worrying about things that haven’t yet happened and the depression comes from the things that have already happened. Trying to accept things and live in the present.
I feel that same way about working through it. It’s a task just to get through a day knowing you have to suck it up go to work earn money just to survive. The hypochondria never helps with the medical bills.
