Severe health issues, doctors just keep saying anxiety.

A bit about myself:

I'm 25 years old, female, and overweight.

I have Pcos, IBS, hypertension (blood pressure was fine before this all started though).

I'm sorry for the long winded explanation.

I've been dealing with physical and mental symptoms for several years now. Last year was a very stressful time for me. Deaths in the family, basement flooded, house fire, almost lost my mother several times due to heart/diabetic/and falls.

I basically had a mental breakdown and started taking Ativan, since Kolonopin was no longer helping.

I first noticed hard beats in my chest, fast pulse, sweats, chest pain and pressure, and very high blood pressure. I went tons of times to the ER. Kept telling me it was uti's, anxiety, and dehydration. I finally broke down again and entered myself in a mental hospital for suicidal thoughts, even though I was just having anxiety and slight depression. Due to going in I had to abruptly stop the Ativan. I went through severe withdrawal.

This was the single most worst decision I have ever made. I was put in a mental hospital that should literally be burnt down with how bad it is. They put people coming off street drugs, with people who are Schizophrenic. Not offering any help what-so-ever to either sides. I was having severe stomach pain, not able to eat for six days, high blood pressure (157/113 was the highest I knew about. Several times they wouldn't tell me), I was having flashes in my vision, pains down my arms, cold sweats, seeing and hearing things, no sleep for four nights, hair loss, 22 pounds lost in a week and a half, restlessness and constantly pacing, trouble swallowing, dehydrated, seizures, falling, a cyst burst on my ovary and I was denied medical help, and other various things. Some of these symptoms were due to the severe anxiety and no one listening to me. They offered no help, and told me to stop saying things for attention and to go sit down. The physiatrist decided to up Paxil from 25mgs to 60mgs in two days. Trazadone from 25mg to 100mg in three. This is when most of my symptoms started. I believe I may have been upped too quick and was already allergic to the medicines.

Again, they didn't believe me and left me be. I was in there a week, and other things happened I would rather not go into.

On my birthday I was released, and I immediately went to the hospital. I was severely dehydrated, blood loss, and showed some signs of toxic serotonin syndrome. After two weeks of being on these Meds I couldn't take it anymore. I quit them and noticed myself coming back to normal. I was given medicine that helped IBS, and began to gain my weight back.

However I was plagued by even more symptoms. I'm now having muscle spasms/twitches, migraines, elevator bouncing feeling, leg weakness to the point of falling, high blood pressure spikes but mostly very low blood presssure, heart pvc's and pac's, bradycardia and tachycardia, tremors, sweats, hypersensitivity, staring for long periods, heat and cold sensitivity, body pins and needles, and more.

I've had: MRI, EEG, tons of blood work (Checked for carcinoid tumor, adrenal tumor, etc), abdominal cat scan with dye (Had diagnosis of scirosis of the liver, but was then diagnosed a fatty liver), hormone tests both blood and urine, echocardiogram, heart monitor for 1 week and another for 48 hours, tons of ekgs, full check up with obgyn with ultrascans and blood work.

I'm still having most of these symptoms and for the most part they are here 24/7. I'm in constant anxiety and terror from them and my experiences on trying to get help. The paramedics have belittled me, and so have the ER doctors and my own doctors. I feel horrible and feel I need to go to the ER, especially with the heart issues. But everytime I go, I'm basically told I'm wasting their time. Even my heart doctor is giving excuses on me wanting to make appointments. Saying they are full, and to call back next week. I've only seen him three times over several months. I'm literally at a loss on what to do. All my tests come back normal, but yet all these symptoms stay so strong. I'm in therapy and having massage therapy as well. Both seem to help very little for the physical symptoms.

Neurologist thinks I have Vestibular migraines so I was put on Gabapentin (sp?) and had some bad muscular sideffects as well as mental decline.

Things I've tried: Exercise, herbal supplements, vitamins, meditation, therapy, medicines (Very sensitive to SSRI's and sleeping medicines), distracting myself, herbal tea's for sleeping, melatonin, etc. Very little seems to help.

If anyone has symptoms like I do, I would love to hear from you. I feel alone, even though I know people have it much worse than myself. Having something no one can figure out, then having a mental illness on top fueling it is never fun.

Hi Kawa, I joined this group last night as I am having very similar symptoms to you and I've too been told it's anxiety and panic disorder from doctors from hospitals, I was told this morning to try guided meditation. I too have had blood tests and ecg results were I have heart palpitations, I too struggle daily and have tried everything possible I did begin to feel better but the last two weeks have been awful, I completely understand how you're feeling I feel breathless most of the time, lightheaded feel like I'm going to pass out, my jaw used to lock and prevented me from eating I've been to my dr many times and have been told the same thing over and over that it's anxiety, I too have IBS which doesn't help when you're suffering with anxiety, I'm not sure if I'm much use but if you ever want to talk I'm here, I hope we all feel back to normal soon.

If you've had all the test which it sounds like you have trust me it's anxiety and anyone in the community can tell you that's usually how anxiety starts first. I spent my first long month of agonizing anxiety on my health which stared after my first panic attack that sent me to the hospital. All those symptoms I've had with a clean bill of health. Stress migraine, shaky legs feels like your on a boat or the grounds moving under you, pins and needles hypersensitivity to sound and light those can come from anxiety. It's the stress and adrenaline being released into your body. Your body responds by becoming hypersensitivity to "perceived" threats so your legs feel shaky because adrenaline is flowing preparing you and that's why you feel "the floor moving" it's also why your hearing gets sensitive I bet like me you could hear cotton hit dirt, visual changes racing thoughts of doom or randomness that's all anxiety but the good part is it can be overcomed a lot of the symptoms I use to get I don't anymore and any others I'm better at understanding them and working through them now. I would advise seeing a psychologist as they will understand your plight. That's what I have and many others have with great result. Your going to be ok.

1.See a psychologist

2.Sleep regularly at night helps your body recover and repair

3.Imorive diet: lower sugar, carbs, artificial foods assuming you don't have a condition that requires a specific diet

4.Exercise. Not only does it Keep you healthy it releases good hormones

5.Mindfullness.oistive thinking and focused thinking (positive affirmations etc.) a psychologist can better explain this as in still learning it myself

I hope been reading your post and all the symptoms you have described sound like withdrawal from benzodiazepam.Did they ween you off your drugs or did you go cold turkey? You have been treated very badly.

Thank you all for your replies. I really appreciate it.

Michelle, I hope you are doing better. It's hard dealing with this and it gets really stressful. I wouldn't mind staying in contact. It's always nice talking to someone who understands~

Christophe, thanks for the reassurance. I will continue to try the things I've been doing, and what you listed.

Marleen, I doubt it is withdrawal. This all happens in september last year. I withdrew in the hospital from the ativan. Then a week after getting out of the hospital I withdrew from the Paxil and trazadone cold turkey. So I did have withdrawal symptoms for a few weeks. The kolonopin im on, I rarely take due to it making my blood pressure so low. So it couldn't be that either. I'm not sure if withdrawal symptoms could last several months though.
